The ASM 42 page that Burkey has is nice, but where's Spidey?

well it is significant since it shows the 1st appearance of MJ and the classic line she says......but he gave up some killer stuff....but according to what i ahve heard he has been after that for years.

here is a post from burkey

and after giving up a few key pieces, including an 80s Romita Jr ASM cover, a

Romita sr ASM cover, a Ditko ASM action page, PLUS throwing in a life size

fiberglass Spiderman mannequin i got from Germany, the guy finally agreed to do

the deal!!!! heh

He wanted us both to CO OWN the piece and for me to keep it with me, but I

didn't want anything like that to happen, so I added the Ditko ASM, and the

mannequin, and 2 cool Romita, Sr. card art pieces to the deal and he finally

agreed!

To me, this is 1 of the most REMEMBERED pages in comics HISTORY!

Now I own the last 3 pages in succession to this historic story!

ENJOY!

I find the board itself very painful so I just subscribe to the e-mail digest version. They pack the posts up in groups of 25 and send them out at a rate of around 3-4 a day.

He sold the ASM 47 cover. He only buys covers in order to sell them, as he likes interiors more and feels he can get many more interiors for the price of a cover.

blush.gif Anyone know what the estimated figure was it sold for. Or what covers from that Romita time period usually go for besides the 39, 40, and 50?

I would guess that the ASM 47 cover would be worth over 15,000. Based on some of the utterly ridiculous prices I've seen on lesser known artists' covers.

Well I found an answer on Burkey's site that indicates that ASM Romita covers go between $30K-$70K and I would have to believe that $15K is probably only a fraction of what the 47 would go for after seeing some Ditko interiors approaching that number.

The 69 sold for 42K, but that was over two years ago. Easily would go for more today. Consider the fact that Byrne X-Men covers and Miller DD covers are also around 50K and up, so Romita SR should be at least that. I know of a Miller DD cover that sold for 75K, and key Byrne X-Men covers have also sold for 60-80K.

I value my ASM 75 cover at 50K in today's market. No way I'd let it go for anything less. "Lesser" Romita ASM covers below issue 100 would probably be around 20K, and the random covers over issue 100 go for around 15K. Of course, key coves are always more... like 121, 122, 129, etc.

Even ten years ago, Romita SR early covers were at the 25K mark, and were considered the Holy Grail.

Ditko interior pages with Spidey in them go for about 10-14K these days.
