Amy Jackson, a British-born actress who has established herself as a Bollywood star, has been cast in the role of Imra Ardeen -- the superhero known as Saturn Girl -- on The CW's Supergirl.

The CW has confirmed the casting, which indicates the Legion of Super-Heroes is coming soon to the series. Imra, whose previous live-action appearance came in an episode of Smallville, was one of the founding members of the super-team, a group of teenagers from the future who were inspired by Superman's example and sought to help the world and the universe.

This season sure is starting out a little darker. I like how they are slowly introducing the season's Big-Bad over a few episodes. Though it will be interesting to find out why she doesn't realize she has all these powers.

It looks like the show is going to honor yet another portrayal of a character by bringing on a voice actor this time.

SUPERGIRL: Carlos Bernard & Carl Lumbly Guest Star In New Photos From Season 3, Episode 3: "Far From The Tree"

Quote

Well, here's a pleasant surprise as new photos from next week's episode of Supergirl have revealed that Carl Lumbly, the longtime voice of the animated Martian Manhunter, will be guest starring as the long-lost father of J'onn J'onzz (David Harewood).

The photos also feature a first look at former 24 star Carlos Bernard making his debut as Maggie Sawyer's (Floriana Lima) estranged father. We're also treated to new photos of M'gann (Sharon Leal) and Eliza Danvers (Helen Slater) making their season debuts as well as plenty of new shots of the Girl of Steel on Mars.

First Official Look At Odette Annable As A Much More Humanised Take On Reign Revealed

supergirl-reign-first-look-full.jpg?w=62

Quote

As we know, Supergirl's oblivious Samantha (Odette Annable) is destined to become the mega-powerful Worldkiller known as Reign at some point during the current third season of the CW series, and we have our first official look at the character right here.

Fans will immediately notice that this take on Reign looks significantly different than the monstrous biological weapon from the comics, as she's basically just Sam in a dark super-suit.

Supergirl this week was interesting. The storyline centered on humans looking to worship super-powered beings as gods, to the point of becoming fanatics and throwing themselves into dangerous situations so as to be saved by their 'gods'.

It feels like with the introduction of Reign over a series of episodes, this is going to get darker and even more interesting.

TV Ratings: 'The Gifted' and 'Supergirl' Hold Steady on Monday Night

Quote

Despite the crowded TV slate across network channels on Monday night, the evening's two superhero series managed to hold steady ratings, clearing up their trajectory for the rest of the season.

Supergirl aired a new episode on The CW at 8 p.m. ET, going up against a solid slate of CBS sitcoms, The Voice and Dancing with the Stars. Even in the face of competition, Supergirl stayed steady with 1.86 million viewers, posting a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic. The episode was followed by freshman military series Valor (1.2 mil/0.3), which also held its numbers.

Fox's X-Men series The Gifted (3.4 mil/1.1) was steady from last week, even though it had a solid lead-in from Lucifer (3.7 mil/1.1) which saw a slight rise.

A good episode last night. And you get a better perspective on how Alex and Kara came to care for one another later on, and how early on things were not so smooth.

The show definitely picked the right young actresses to play them.

Actresses were very good, I'm not sure if I loved the story, but I liked the actresses.

It was interesting that they made a reference to Chloe and Smallville. Alison Mack was mentioned in some other thread here...something about a cult.

I liked it because it gave you the backstory on what was the defining event that made Alex and Kara so close, and if was always smooth from the beginning. The bitterness over the loss of her father definitely played into the early emotions between them, and it sure wasn't peaches and cream at that point.

So seeing it had to do with the murder of a friend and how they worked together seemed like an interesting event.

I like how Kara about tore her lunch table into pieces over that quarterback.

lol

I like where they are going here.

The show has definitely broken away from its previous channel roots, and instead gone a darker yet familiar route. Even the slow buildup to the new baddie has demonstrated plenty of restaint, feeling like it's just enough each episode to keep you engaged.

I like how the show even takes into account J'onn's father suffers from mental trauma after decades of incarceration. The old show would introduce this in the first episode, and by the second he would be cured and cracking jokes.
