3-D stadium seating on the 18th

I will be staying off the social media all week that week. I want to be surprised when I see it. So far no one really has a clue of the plot, just lots of speculation

Adam Driver Calls Kylo Ren A Fanatic, Not Evil

“When they think of their actions as morally justified,” he said. “It makes them dangerous and unpredictable. There’s no level they won’t go to to accomplish what they’re after. I never thought of the character as an evil person.”

George Lucas Finally Reveals Why He Broke Up With Star Wars

When Disney first announced the return of the Star Wars saga, it was originally reported that the new films would be based on stories written by the franchise creator George Lucas. Then it turned out that was not the case. When Disney decided to go in a different direction Lucas apparently decided to divorce himself from the project entirely. The reason for the shift seems to be a fundamental difference in the way each party looked at the story. Disney wanted to make a space opera, while Lucas wanted to make a soap opera.

Alright raise your hands, how many here wanted a space opera and who wanted a soap opera?

Sometimes a creator has to step aside too, if not then... "forced" if things aren't working as well as promised.

Would have we got a that wonderful Star Trek trilogy during the early-to-mid 80's if Paramount didn't oust Gene Roddenbery after The Motion Picture disappointed due to it's budget?

"The needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the one"

Truth is, we probably would have got another thoughtful space movie in '82 and that would have been it for the franchise as it would have had to compete for that spot with ET (which had that genre that summer).

Instead, we got a lower budget, action packed homage to the TV series that played like Horatio Hornblower in outer space.

Lucas had his Star Wars: The Motion Picture in the form of "The Phantom Menace" and got to do the other ones only because the studio was only distributing them and not financing. His "vision" wasn't gonna work this time with a studio behind him.

It would have been worse if you can believe it. The original draft for STAR TREK II by Roddenbery had the Enterprise crew going back in time to (NO JOKE) assassinate JFK!

YES you read that right. The story went (and I'm going by memory) The Klingons go back in time to alter earths future by saving Kennedy, setting a series of events that turn earths future for the worse (how was never clear) and kirk and crew now have to go back in time and undo the 'damage' caused by the Klingons.

Thank you Disney for making a story for the FANS. Would Hamill, Ford, or Fisher have been on board for a soap opera?

Most fans that grew up watching the original trilogy wanted the prequels to be a space opera. I wanted a more mature story. Between Ep 6 and Ep1 the films look like they were made a few years apart. The story didn't mature as fans grew older. In fact, it felt as if Lucas took a few steps backwards.

:hi:

George Lucas is quite the control freak. It's hard to forgive him for holding up new Indiana Jones films for the better part of two decades due to being stuck on that crystal skull idea that Spielberg and Ford thought was dumb.
