Comprehensive List of DC Universe Logo UPC Variants

So, I was the "unknown lurker" who shared with Revat the at-that-time-unlisted Power of Shazam #17 DCU edition back in October 2016 (of course, I've been called a lot of things in lifetime, but "lurker" might be a new favorite!).

I stumbled across this site a few months back but didn't have time to look at it closely, and so I just bookmarked it. I've since then had a little more time to delve into it.

I'm really active on the ComicBase/AtomicAvenue site. There is a growing list of DCU editions tracked on Atomic Avenue's site. {You may need to uncheck the "Show only in-stock items" box in the upper right corner.} Right now, there are about 350 of the DCU's listed on the link above (though only around 20 of them are for sale).

As Revat shared earlier, ComicBase (CB) is working to track all of them. So, if any of you use that program, have any of the missing DCUs and have access to a scanner, you can add them yourself. If you don't use that program, you can post the scans here (or send them to me) and I'd be happy to add any of the missing DCU editions. We tend to look for high res. scans (the images I submit tend to be around 700-800 pixels wide).

As a side note on CB, the DCUs are all being indexed as reprints, though not all of them technically are. The editors there tend to call any comic that was printed after the initial print run a "reprint." Some DCUs clearly indicate that they are a reprint (like Superman: The Man of Steel Annual #3). Some likely came out after the "regular" editions (like the Superman/Doomsday: Hunter/Prey issues that, if I recall, were sold as a three-pack collection, and so it's likely that those DCU versions were at least released if not printed after their regular counterparts). The "bricks" very well may have been released at the same time as the regular editions, but it was easier to simply enter all of the DCUs into CB as reprints as opposed to debate over whether each individual issue would be a reprint or variant. Regardless how they are getting indexed, though, I think we would all agree that it's great seeing another commercial comic database working towards indexing all these.

Also, I found another that is missing from the list on page 1. There are two Robin #14's. There is the regular edition and the special cover.

And, as a clarification for anyone who might know, is there a "non-sticker" DCU version of Superman #104? The copy I have (as well as the only DCU edition on eBay right now) has a sticker over the direct market UPC. I'm curious if that's what is being considered the DCU edition of that book or if there is another version out there.

Thanks!

Thanks for sharing this great info. Yes, there is a stickered and non-stickered DCU variant of Superman 104 (I have them both). I also have the stickered and non-stickered DCU variants of Superman MOS 42 and Detective 690. I think there is another stickered DCU variant shown earlier on this thread as well.

I've personally seen a thousand or more DCU variants after years of searching. Of those, I've only put my hands on 4 stickered DCU variants, so they are truly hard to find.

TO that end, I wonder if we should keep a list of 'stickered' DCU's. Might as well I say. I've seen one in person, but already forgot which one. So if you've got'em, show'em or list'em. Or if someone else already pointed out a few in the thread, feel free to quote them. I'm too lazy to do that, but I'll edit the first page list to reflect the stickered ones.

For newcomers to the thread, I've posted an update to the list, but there's also a master list on the first page as well.

Stickered DCU's: Green Lantern #59 (page 27 of this thread). Plus TEC 690, SM MOS 42, and Superman 104. That's all I've ever seen.

hi, I just noticed that for Catwoman, I have "18 31" without a symbol in the middle. Should it be "18-31" or "18, 31"?

Pretty sure it's a comma.

in that case, I found a new one

Interesting. Nice work.

I can see where a few random issues in that run would be likely, but the whole run seems unlikely to me. Very few known unbroken runs on the list reach the ~14 issue run needed to bridge the gap (and all those seem to be in A-list titles like Batman, Superman, or Flash, and all the long runs seem to be early in the DCU timeline). Not impossible, but for that many to have slipped past us this long seems like a stretch.

Upgrades (two leftmost books) and books new to my DCU collection have started trickling in from recent buys. The Superman #104 is the stickered version.

They do look good, and I like the red DCU box a lot. I'm surprised at how tough the Catwoman #31 was for me. This is the first copy I've seen, and I've had multiples of just about every other Contagion issue.

The first 6 Contagion issues, Catwoman 31 was #4, was in a Collector's set. Sometimes it's easier to find the collector's set than to chase the individual issues.

That's how I ended up getting mine, a boardie had a spare boxed set to sell to me.
