With Pratt in such high demand, the studio quickly fast-tracked the project in

order to squeeze it in before the actor’s plate became too full. It’s unclear where

this film would fit in his schedule with Pratt already set to star in “Magnificent

Seven,” which shoots in the spring, and the “Guardians of the Galaxy” sequel, but

as long as things come together quickly, it’s a good sign this film is headed in the

right direction.

Remember that rumor?

Chris Pratt Not On Cowboy Ninja Viking Any More, Despite Recent Reports

:(

---------------------

But I am told from Hollywood sources that Pratt is no longer on the project, having to choose between that and another project – which is also reported to be hella cool, but non-comics based.

And no, not Indiana Jones, though it is true, he is wanted for that as well.

COWBOY NINJA VIKING: Chris Pratt's Next Comic Book Movie To Be Directed By Michelle MacLaren

When we last reported on Chris Pratt's Cowboy Ninja Viking, Universal had set the Image Comics adaptation for a June 28, 2019, release date.  This report came back in August 2017 and the project still was without a director.  Well, four months later, Game of Thrones director Michelle MacLaren has been hired to helm the project.

Craig Mazin wrote the most recent draft of the -script after the initial screenplay was penned by Deadpool duo  Paul Wernick and Everett David Reese.

Universal is also the home of Pratt's other tentpole franchise, Jurassic World.

Unless Cowboy Ninja Viking is delayed, it will compete against an Untitled Men in Black spinoff [06/14],  Toy Story 4 [6/21] and the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel [07/05].

Is the Cowboy Ninja Viking comic any good?

Just finished the deluxe trade today, and the answer is yes, although it is not an easy read at first(no spoilers), it is worth looking into.

:bump:

Priyanka Chopra is in talks to join Universal’s adaptation of “Cowboy Ninja Viking” starring Chris Pratt.

The role was one of the more highly coveted in town and Chopra beat out a slew of talent after a chemistry test with Pratt went extremely well.

The film is based on the Image Comics graphic novel by A.J. Lieberman and illustrator Riley Rossmo. It was adapted by Dan Mazeau (“Wrath of the Titans”) and Ryan Engle (“The Commuter”). Craig Mazin wrote an earlier draft of the screenplay with an original version by “Deadpool” writers Paul Wernick and Everett David Reese.

The novel revolves around an assassin who manifests the toughest skills of three different personas: a cowboy, a ninja, and a viking.

Entertainment 360 — the production arm of Management 360 — Mark Gordon via eOne, Michael De Luca for Michael De Luca Productions, and Pratt will produce. VP of production Sara Scott will oversee production on behalf of the studio.

The movie hits theaters on June 28, 2019.

Chopra is coming off her final season of the ABC series “Quantico” and most recently appeared in the drama “A Kid Like Jake.” She can next be seen in the New Line comedy “Isn’t It Romantic” opposite Rebel Wilson. She is repped by WME, manager Anjula Acharia and Grubman Shire & Meiselas.

hm

Universal Pictures has taken the Chris Pratt-led tentpole, “Cowboy Ninja Viking,” off its schedule and undated the movie, which was previously set to release on June 28, 2019.

Sources tell Variety that the film is still in active development with Pratt, Priyanka Chopra, and director Michelle MacLaren remaining on board. Universal said it will be re-dated at a later time to accommodate production scheduling. Insiders say the studio delayed the film rather than rushing it out to make the June 28 deadline.
