James Mangold's WOLVERINE 3 Set To Begin Filming This April?

According to a report from My Entertainment World (via ComingSoon.net), Wolverine 3 will begin production on April 25, 2016 in New Orleans, LA. With the film set to hit theaters on March 3, 2017, this seems like a legit start date for Hugh Jackman’s final Wolverine film. The site also reveals that New Mexico will be another location the film shoots at in the near future.

Wolverine 3 Targeting R Rating

20th Century Fox revealed at Toy Fair 2016 that they would be targeting an R-rating for Hugh Jackman's final run as Wolverine next year.

This news follows the massive success of Fox's first R-rated standalone super hero movie, as Deadpool absolutely killed the box office this weekend. They previously dabbled with R-rated comic book movies earlier in 2015 with Kingsman: The Secret Service, which also turned out to be a surprise hit, though not as big a success as the world's new favorite merc.

The news comes from a pamphlet or catalog Fox supposedly handed out to guests at their Toy Fair presentation that an imgur user posted online.

The production team is saying they have been going for an R rating for a few years now. Interesting!

'THE WOLVERINE III' Was Aiming For an R-Rating Long Before 'DEADPOOL' Came Out?

The outlet claims a couple things. First, it claims to have sources that confirm that 20th Century Fox is indeed shooting for an R-rating for Hugh Jackman's last outing as Wolverine. Furthermore, it claims that this is something that was decided on by the filmmakers far in advance. Den of Geek said the following:

"While that other X-Men spin-off movie grossing $132 million in three days is undoubtedly another great incentive to maintain the tone for THE WOLVERINE III, the filmmakers behind the mutant superhero film, including director James Mangold, have been planning for years to make a more violent farewell to Jackman’s beloved alter-ego due to the content of the OLD MAN LOGAN source material. While the MPAA of course makes the final determination of a film’s rating, the plan has always been to aim for an R."
