First Hulkbuster? Iron Man 304 or 305?

Is there a consensus on the key (if there is such a thing) first book for the Hulkbuster armor? Is it Iron Man 304? Is that a full appearance or cameo? Is 305 the true first full appearance?

Yep. #304 is a $20+ book now in NM.

 

And quite a bit higher in CGC 9.8:

In 304 there's a few panels with Stark putting on the armor and the last page is a splash page with the full armor (with Stark saying 'I've been waiting for you' to Hulk - pretty bad azz way to end the book)

There is no reason to make a distinction between the two, you are just cluttering the issue.

 

304 first shows the armor in all its glory

 

305 is the actual fight.

 

As such both are relevant and we don't need to use pointless distinctions like cameo and full.

Yes we do. Apparently, such distinctions have become very important in this "next big movie announcement" age of comic collecting.

It doesn't matter. When there is no set rule on what dictates one or the other they're meaningless.

 

You don't need to take a character's second appearance and somehow shoehorn it into becoming a first appearance just because it sells for more money than the actual first appearance.
