Pressing and signatures

7 posts in this topic

Does anyone know whether pressing a book will smear or smudge or otherwise screw up a signature -- especially on an interior (newsprint) page? I got a convention program signed when I was a kid, but it got water damaged later on and I'm wondering about having it pressed, but don't wanna blur the signatures. Any thoughts?

Not if you send it to the pros.

They use water or steam, though, right? Any insights into how they can avoid signature bleed?

There are many way to hydrate a book and steam or water should never be used directly on a book with a signature. A scan of the item would be helpful.
