Yes, I still remember reading his multi-issue article on the Edgar Church Collection that ran in CBM #2 - #5.

In fact, those early issues of CBM by Gary Carter was an absolute joy to read as there was just so much information packed into those pages and the absolute reading highlight for me as I used to scour the mailbox waiting for it every month.   :cloud9:

I believe that Pat was primarily a high-end pedigree type of collector only and is probably still the department head (brain specialist or something like that) of some hospital down in the Pittsburg area.

It was in the pages of CBM that I realized that Doctors, Lawyers, and Executives were still collecting comics.... and that maybe there wasn't something wrong with me after all, still reading comics as an adult. GOD BLESS...

Figured i'd let the Big Centaurs posts cool down a bit before posting my minor one. My first post to this Thread as member of the Centaur club . The cover is so Eliot Ness.

Could also be in the Motorcycle thread.

Tough book, especially in grade - your copy presents quite well, nicely done! :applause:

Thanks! Really cool receiving feedback from you and the other 'Centaur guys'.

Been reading the features off and on recently on DCM. These early comics are a true breed all their own.

Aye, I did... I cried lol. Would love to have those digitized that DCM doesn't have, esp. all of Tarpe Mills' Daredevil Barry stories as well as that Sand Hog story. That is one weird cover lol.

BTW, on Uncle Joe's Funnies, is it full of original stories or does is it full of reprints? GCD doesn't have it indexed and I am curious to what it has.

Predominantly reprints iirc

This was an interesting submission - the book has a 1/2" cover tear that was glued. The glue was removed and the seal opened, but apparently enough residue remained for a label notation. Thankfully still Blue, however...

......and another one for the Centaur pile :luhv:

Two years ago I'd never had thought I'd be bumping this Thread with personal acquisitions. Sure maybe three issues had always been on my radar but the hardcore Centaur folks ( you know who you are :D ) have persuaded me to cast the net a little wider with their cool books, wealth of knowledge and love for the publisher. Only 10 on the CGC census (7 unrestored).

I've always liked Keen Detective Funnies (e.g., I have the Larson on this issue), but with a few notable exceptions the title doesn't get as much love/respect as some other Centaur titles.

Nice pick-up. (thumbsu

Thanks! Well fortunately most of the Centaurs on my short list are from this run.

Congrats on the Larson (worship)

Thanks! I'm certain it was the CC auction following the Berk one. I wanted the Berk copy but there were items higher on the want list at the time. So when this opportunity came again so quickly (even if in lower grade) i pounced. Iv'e followed (paid attention) to the Centaur Thread closely enough to deduce A lot of them don't change hands so frequently. Last year was a great time to catch a lot of these in the wild.
