The most Rare and expensive Variants?

98 posts in this topic

The most expensive variant ever sold is Danger Girl #2 Ruby Red. Limited to 400 copies, a 9.8 sold for $5,000 in 2010.

It has since sold for cheaper, but it holds the record for a blue label (and probably yellow label) variant.

The most expensive "variant" would probably be Marvel Comics #1, Oct. (which isn't really a variant.).

There are also variants of Batman 1 and Superman 1. So I think Supes 1 would take the cake. I forgot what the minor differences on supes 1 are. Batman 1 has copies with and without the period in the "No. 1" on the front cover.

Bloodshot #0 Platinum (not a solicited variant, but it exists) sold for $5,500 in CGC 9.8 in 2008.

http://www.valiantfan.com/issue/show/b0P

15 copies have been slabbed (6 in 9.8, 8 in 9.6, 1 in 9.4)

(Yes, lots of you have Bloodshot #0 in your boxes... if it has a $3.50 cover price in a white box, you've got a common version... sorry.) :foryou:

Is it really a variant if only 1 exists.....?

hm

As well, that was a Heritage charity auction. Should that qualify?

I'm sure Pete didn't pay $5,500 for it, either.

Right, that's unlikely. Pete or chainnball might make the price known. hm

BK told me, but I don't remember exactly. It wasn't $5,500.

Miracleman Italian Omnibus... It collects the Moore run... Only 100 made... Not the most expensive... However, it is very rare. There is a second more elusive omnibus as well (red) that collects the Gaiman run... Also limited to 100 copies... I've never come across one for sale though and have only seen very poor photographs confirming its existence...
