Looks like printer ink smear on Marvel logo. I'm not sure if this would affect the grade.

I'm right at 9.6 as well.

I was under the impression that printing defects don't affect the grade?

 

If not then it looks a 9.8 - one way to find out

It doesn't usually except in highest grades. That said I also noticed 4 or 5 small spine ticks and some wonkiness going on upper right and upper left front cover corners.

Just spotted the wonkiness too and spine ticks. There also seems too be a small bend/overlap in the top left.

 

I'd be interested to see what it came back as if it wasn't for it being another NM98 (no offence).

None taken. Do you guys think a press would help out the grade?

Not in my opinion.

 

It's highly likely that the weird part at the top is a manufacturing defect and the few spine ticks won't vastly improve under a press as they are too small - you never know though.

 

I'd sub it as it is.

"Printing defect" or not, there's no way this book comes back as a 9.8 with that smudge, unfortunately. Still a sharp copy nonetheless and worth a submission. (thumbs u
