Death of the Family: Suicide Squad #14 NO Die-Cut cover... Legit?

12 posts in this topic

So sometime ago I was snooping around, looking into what covers the "Death of the Family" die-cuts had them removed. There were even a couple of forum posts here stating there was definitively no Suicide Squad copies, it was the only one not to get printed without the die-cut.

For the last month or 2 I've now seen them cropping up on eBay as "misprints" and "errors" (not newsstand?)

I'm not trying to accuse the sellers in these listings, or anything of that nature, but are these legit? Has anyone bought one yet?

They all seem to be originating from the same seller as well.

Total n00bie here! I'll repost the links.

So we're agreed, these are definitely not newsstand prints at least then(?).

SS #14 is the only copy I don't have the 1st print of, so can't examine properly to establish whether it's removable, but I'll post pictures later of Batman #13 - as I'm sure the die-cut is connected to the back cover or something, which would make it very obvious if removed

If the barcode box includes the words "direct sales" then it is not a newsstand edition. Also, I believe the price on newsstands was $3.99 as opposed to $4.99 on the die-cut covers.

Yes, I just compared with some other newsstand variants, that indeed didn't have "Direct Sales" near the barcode. However, prices differed between issues (e.g. Batman $3.99, Catwoman $2.99) not whether it was direct or newsstand.

Yes, you are correct on the prices. Sorry about that.

Tried uploading the files directly but it wouldn't work (yes, I looked at the Noob guide. It didn't help me this time since I use Photobucket). Instead of having something cool and unique, I have 4 books that are missing the kicka$$ cover :censored::cry:

Here are the links:
