Their bids were too erratic, they didn’t know the market, and chances were, they weren’t terribly smart. It was also clear that they had a lot of money on their hands — too much money, maybe — and they were eager to spend it. Through months of interviews and hundreds of pages of public documents, The Verge reconstructed what they were seeing: a multi-million-dollar embezzlement scheme that would ensnare a crooked lawyer, a multinational corporation, and some of the most sought-out comics in the world.

I read this last night and found it pretty interesting all around; I am sure there is more to the story from the comic side of things.

I knew a bit about this story before, but this filled it out. Tadano books still show up on Heritage, noted as such. Sort of an unfortunate pedigree, I guess.

So is the All Star 3 back into the market or is it (along with perhaps a few others that were sold at Chicago Con) still sitting in an evidence storage room in Texas?

Very interesting read, and I imagine that Heritage probably had to set up an auction specifically for the contents of the storage units that made up this collection since it was so massive. Did they?

I was thinking that as I read it. It's got some pretty good twists in it, and it's definitely a good caper story.

Wow - a definite good read. I feel sorry for the private collectors that lost out!
