I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this already, but part of this topic involved discussion of the true 1st appearance of Pepe le Pew.

It's Daffy Duck #27. While Looney Tunes #240 did indeed wind up on the same shelves with it's October cover date, the actual newsstand date for Daffy was August 1, 1961. Looney Tunes #240 hit the newsstands August 17th.

Reminds me of what happened with another popular "black and white" character back in 1984.

Thanks for this. Was wondering If anyone out there with knowledge of such things as actual newsstand dates of comics knew for sure which issue 'hit' first.

Thanks (but now I need a highgrade Daffy #27) (:

I think that Bosko could still reasonably be seen as being part of the Looney Tunes family despite not being featured as often anymore.

Very good point. Almost like a Disney 'Oswald the Rabbit' scenario.

Now on the wantlist (thumbsu

I don’t get many Bugs books anymore but scored this freebee from a great boardie recently. Great read. I forgot how much fun these are.

:applause:Cool one! That will be a heckuva Group Shot should you attempt it!

+++Some musings about this cover hm :

It's dated Jan, 1945 (though it was likely on the stands Dec 1944?)

Pepe Le Pew made his cartoon debut Jan 1945.

I know his first actual appearance in a comic story was in 1961. BUT,

Given the date of this comic and the release date of his first animated short, could this possibly be a promotion of the short, hence his first comic appearance, or am i reaching?:D

Somebody out there in Wabbit land please opine......

That is a nice one Marty. Nice use of Lavender, Purple and Pink.

Surprised no takers on the Pepe inquiry. Oh, well...

Guess i will write CGC with my findings and see what they think. Worth a shot..

Thought I had responded, looks like if I did it didn't get through.

The skunk really doesn't look much like Pepe at all to me, and I don't think there was that sort of coordination at the time anyway.  It's a neat coincidence, though!
