I’ve always been a little disappointed that Scrooge got short shrift in most of the Disney empire other than his current role in Duck Tales. One little known place he is celebrated is in the Tokyo Disney Theme Park’s American Waterfront area where he is featured as the proprietor of McDuck’s Department Store.

The details on the exterior of the store are quite nice.

When you enter the store you are quickly reminded who is in charge. The portrait above pays homage to Scrooge’s Scottish roots.

There are a couple of other portraits around including one of Scrooge with his number 1 dime!

And of course with sculptures like this peering down on you; you’d think twice of shoplifting!

The attention to detail and level of design in this theme park is spectacular. I hadn’t visited in about 16 years and it looks as good as when it opened! The only drawback to this store is that it is dedicated to selling Duffy merchandise. Duffy is a cute bear character that the Japanese Disney branch developed and has turned into a huge hit and money maker. Well given the commercial success maybe it is appropriate that Scrooge is pushing this product!

Wow, that is cool. I think he would have been better as a mascot for a bank. They probably have one there. Sad that he is pimping non Disney merch. But they are in business to sell what is popular there. I would hate to have to polish that brass plaque all the time. Thanks for the pics!

Love those early WDC&S @Marty Mann! Here's the Australian version of your #91 (it's #31 in this series, which started about five years later).

Love them Australian WDCS. Seems of all characters Superman and Donald Duck seem to be published the most worldwide.

A recent pick up from early 1946 off the boards. Great era for duck stories and there are other fun features in here as well. I always get a kick out of the rationing references in the Donald and Mickey daily strip reprints. Even though I think  rationing was over by then there were still shortages of basics going on after the war ended as manufacturing re-tooled. It's interesting how these forties issues are so much more insightful into their times than what would happen to this book in the fifties and sixties when it was much more formulaic.

An FC 9 in 9.4 with C-OW just sold on Heritage for $38k, beating the $31k price 12 years ago for a 9.4 copy with OW pages.

This just looks so much better when you have a picture and a link to go with it:

https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/four-color-9-donald-duck-file-copy-dell-1942-cgc-nm-94-cream-to-off-white-pages/a/7224-91060.s?ic16=ViewItem-BrowseTabs-Inventory-BuyNowFromOwner-ArchiveSearchResults-012417&lotPosition=0|0

Golden Age (1938-1955):Cartoon Character, Four Color #9 Donald Duck - File Copy (Dell, 1942) CGC NM 9.4 Cream to off-white pages....

And absolutely no surprise that this copy with the C/OW pages would have sold for more than the OW pages copy from 12 years ago, because as jaydog has told us naysayers repeatedly over the years that books with better PQ (i.e. less white pages) will always sell for more than books with whiter pages.  :makepoint:   (:

I ran into one of my favorite books with deep, rich cover color and couldn't resist the great price I was offered.  If it weren't for that lower right cover crease it would be a fantastic book but I still like it just the way it is.

How many  FC 456 do you have?

Rich, that is a beautiful copy. The copy I own is really beat up but I wouldn't trade it for the world as it was one of my most memorable duck four color purchases. I found it at a Saturday flea market the week before I turned 14 and would be spending the next 4 years working from 6AM to 5PM on Saturdays at that flea market instead of chasing old comics. I remember brow beating the price down to $12 or so from $15 and while no great investment it was gold for me!! I still remember reading it the first time; what a classic story.

Hope all is well with you.

"Back to the Klondike" is one of the great comic book stories.  It's too bad that it ended up being censored.

Somehow I never had a copy of this until now

One of my favorites too Rick! Here is my copy. For some reason every one I come across have the CF either loose or missing from that pesky single center staple.
