Has there ever been an Atom/Hawkman collecting thread?

9 posts in this topic

AS I scan my silver age DC's I am wanting to share more of my collection as I organize and file it both physically as well as digitally.

Never saw a thread about this series so I thought I would start one.

I think I am complete on ATOM and ATOM-HAWKMAN . Looks like I am just missing one HAWKMAN

Very glad to see the characters introduced into the DC TV era that we are now experiencing

This was a great little Silver Age to Bronze Age bridge series. Its early issues marked the return of the Hawkman character to the Julie Schwartz/Gardner Fox shop. Very cool to get Murphy Anderson back on Hawkman, and a couple of issues featured the combination of Kubert & Anderson pencils & inks-- I believe the only time these 2 ever collaborated.

Then at the same time you had Denny O'Neil scripts starting to sneak in, paving the way for future Bronze Age storylines. The Jean-Loring-is-crazy subplot began here, which would get revisited in Justice League & Super-Team Family in the 1970s, and culminate in the Identity Crisis thing of several years ago.

And, as we can see from Hepcat's cover gallery just above, the Joe Kubert covers were uniformly excellent! :cloud9:

I assumed that there must have been other threads, but I could only look back for a year with the search function

The books with the green dots on the bag covering the DC logo are my original issue from when I first started reading comics
