Just noticing something amusing about that cover. The artist shows us very little of the menacing figure. Two things we are shown are 1. The “bad guy’s” hands are empty, and 2. He’s raising them.

He’s giving up, and getting a bullet for it.

Wait. That’s a gorilla, isn’t it? Never mind.

I like the re-creation more than the original.  (shrug)

Certainly a different take on Superman.  Lol. Not familiar with the character. Any idea if it’s a swipe of older art or contemporaneously created and drawn?  It would be an awesome cover.

It appears to be a very pulpy generic maniac.  The art was originally slated for the cover to Detective 2 but Ellsworth or Sullivan rejected it as being too gruesome.  Here's the ashcan.

Wow! Love the nine!

Yes indeed, and if I remember correctly, wasn't 'Tec 9 listed as being the rarest out of all of the pre-Batman 'Tec books by Win in terms of his Windex scarcity rating system that he had in place for us here from quite a few years ago?  :luhv:   :takeit:

Yes, that was Win's analysis.  Tec 9 is very tough.  In the CGC census, Tecs 3, 5, 23 and 24 have even fewer slabbed copies than Tec 9, with 24 being the least common.
