A long time board member (bc) contacted me about a 300 book original owner collection of Silver-Age DC books he picked up after the owner passed away. He had to get the books bagged and boarded since they were stored in a few large containers and basically tossed in and left over the decades. Brian (bc) is getting the books out and sorting them and the bottom had a stack of old newspapers and thankfully went to see when they were dated and underneath of the papers was a couple old Marvel books including this: Needless to say he lost his shiznit when he saw it laying there and quickly sent me a text letting me know I better go grab a bunch more cash I know this is a dream of most people to stumble upon a complete nice presenting key book which was completely forgotten. I'm happy to own it now but I find the story equally compelling! Congrats to Brian for living the dream! Popular Post F For Fake Posted May 7, 2018 Popular Post Share Posted May 7, 2018 Was out of town for FCBD, but did stop in a second hand bookshop while travelling on Saturday, and they were having a back issue sale. Rescued these Dave books from the dollar bins. The World of Woods are in surprisingly nice shape, and of all of the books in the Dave collection, I probably run across these the least. I mean, i have stacks of Alien Worlds and Rocketeers, but I have, like, TWO of these WoW books, maybe. The Rocketeers aren't perfect, but can you ever have too many copies of that cover, both deluxe and standard? The answer is no, you can not. Brian48 Posted May 8, 2018 Share Posted May 8, 2018 Well, my CL wins came in. The JO #134 is much nicer in hand. Looking at it closely, I think the soft, bottom right corner is the only thing keeping this book from getting either a 9.4 or 9.6 at the outside. The rest of book is just beautiful. Picked up the Omnibus as well in it's honor (haven't decided yet whether I want to pursue the run). Another nice surprise is that the MP #7 seems to be in a newer case than the one CL had a scan of. On the CL scan, there's an obvious scratch on the lower right of the slab that's not present with the one I just got. Appears to be the same book and the serial # is the same.
