?'s about (and would like to see) restoration on original comic page art

3 posts in this topic

Any idea how restoration on original art affects value? Replacement on things like a missing word balloon that fell off, word corrections, etc. I know there are many variables to consider, but just a rough idea.

Have any of you had any restoration work performed on your original art?

If so, would be great to see pics of yours and an explanation of what was worked on.

Thanks :)

Re: Examples

Robert Dennis posts examples of his work in his CAF.

I have an example of a restoration. I'm glad that I did it.

Re: Value impact

I've never heard of a restored piece selling for less because it was restored.

Re: Restorers

You didn't ask, but I suspect you might like to know of a few places to get OA restored. Here's my standard answer to that.

In the many threads on paper conservation, the names that recur the most were:

  • Robert Dennis

    [*]Gordon Christman

    • ggc2k@hotmail.com
    • Gordon doesn't seem to have a web presence, but his snail mail address and phone number are:
      GORDON G. CHRISTMAN
      RESTORATION & CONSERVATION
      330 SOUTH HORNE STREET #L
      OCEANSIDE CA 92054
      TEL: 760 439 7970
      CEL: 760 458 2290

    [*]Tracey Heft - Eclipse Paper

    trace@eclipsepaper.com

I would add that most major museums know of paper conservators. You might want to contact someone at a local museum and see if there is a conservator close to you.
