I bought an item Feb 24th and the seller still hasn’t shipped it... not even talking about late delivery.. we’re talking about not even dropping it off at the post office....

Sometimes I'll buy something and the tracking never gets beyond "Label Created". The comic gets delivered a few days later, but the tracking never gets updated.

OK, while at 3 weeks we are well beyond the point I am thinking of, but my local post office routinely takes 2 - 7 days to even scan it in and sometimes it is actually scanned for the first time in mid transit. Media mail in particular.

Why do people do this? Do they really think by dumping the comics out like vomit we might be tricked into believing there is treasure hidden in the mess the seller doesn't know is there?

The 2 times that happened to me when I was the seller, it turned out the post office for the buyer opened it up and sent it back under 'media mail is not for comics'

Just putting this out there in case it becomes a thing.  I bought repro Vintage Star Wars stickers from a European seller.  I gave it a month after the deadline and contacted the seller asking him a question as to whether or not he sent it out since no tracking information or semblance of one was offered.  He asked me to give it some more time and I agreed.  It was a $6.50 repro set shipping included.  Some time goes by and I received notification that they closed out my case.  (I didn't realize I opened one.)

Then, the sticker set shows up a few days later.

I contacted the seller asking if he had a Paypal or alternative means of payment so I could make things right and pay for the item.  That was three days ago and so far, I have not heard anything.   (shrug)

I will probably contact him again this coming weekend but at what point do I move on?

WTF? A low grade copy of the actual book can be had for $100 or less. And I see he has actually sold other pages for $20 plus shipping. Why?

Why would you need a certification to destroy a book like this and put it in plastic? If you want to rip the book apart and put it behind mylar and frame it, just do it. What on earth would an individual page from a relatively inexpensive book get graded? While I find it disturbing, I can understand this for Action 1 or Captain America 1, especially if someone has a coverless copy missing a bunch of wraps, but JIM 112??

OMG... they charge $14+ tax to grade a page and you have to submit the whole book for them to chop up. Have we discussed this already? This is insane.

So I sold a coverless JIM 83 here for, I think, $40 a while back, that was missing the first wrap, I guess that was a dumb move!

Of anything I read on these boards, this is the sign of the impending doom.

Item as listed: Ghost in the Shell #1 ashcan

Me:

You left a comment that you will never purchase from me again. Why is that?

Buyer:

I thought I bought 2 comics not one being a flyer

Me:

I'm sorry you thought you were getting something different. However, you received what was advertised.

Buyer:

that's why I gave you positive feedback. but you didn't go out of your way to let people who aren't experts on comic s know that it wasn't a comic so I feel deceived because had I known it wasn't,i wouldn't have bought it,and I don't want to deal with people I have to worry about tricking me. I buy between 300 and 400 comics a month,i deal in trenders only, and wopuld be hard pressed to sell it to one of my investors ,unless your telling me theres no full size comic? I gave you good feedback so how I feel is not important anyway

Me:

If you're buying that many comics you should be familiar with the term ashcan in regards to a comic.

Buyer:

well I do buy that many comics and I still don't know what ashcan means and I now have 11 of those itsy bitsy cflyers withj no idea what i'm going to do with them but there are 10 others out there like you who don't warn anybody, and i'm not dealing with them again eather. and no I cant put them back on line because I would have to warn people how small they are and then nobody would buy them, but you already know that

Had a very hearty laugh today

I just saw one of these atrocities on eBay today and dropped by to see if anyone was discussing it. This is unfathomable to me. Sadly there ARE a number of people out there who fall for any gimmick thinking, of they are investing.

And further to your point, since you have to send the whole book in to them and they cut the pag(s) you request out, who in their right mind is going to mail them even an incomplete 'Tec 27 or Action 1 etc?

Ghost in a shell is a trender? This sort of thing does stink of comic apocolypse. Good for my bank account for sure. For now.

It has happened. We see pages like that. It seems that wraps from books like that may have more value for resto projects, but how many people would be missing the third wrap? the middle ones, sure.

Hindsight being 20/20, $40 for the JIM 83... I should have kept it. I think coverless copies were around $150 then and this was a little rough, so I figured missing a wrap should knock it down a lot. I had bought it from a homeless guy for 50 cents, so I felt like I was doing ok.

Another thing is folks obsessing over tracking information. They do not understand that, depending on the post office, your package might not even get into the tracking system for 1-4+ days. My post office is really big, and they used to have at least 4-5 people scurrying around inside, now it is 2, tops. Stuff takes days to get scanned into tracking unless I wait on line for 40 minutes and hand it to a clerk. I tell this to people who are insisting I have not mailed a package yet, but it goes over their head. I have someone I KNOW is going to give me grief, even though like 2 hours after he accused me of not having mailed the package, all of a sudden tracking shows it is one state over from me. If ebay's estimated time for arrival has not come and gone, why are you harassing me?? And I send almost everything 1st class or priority, not media like most ebay sellers, so even if there is a delay in tracking info appearing, chances are it will get there a week sooner.

I am trying to figure out what that means? Does he have some sort of bot bidding on stuff? Winning 300-400 auctions a month is like a full time job!
