Transformer 5 Title Revealed

slack-imgs-com-182805.jpeg

The Last Knight title is likely a reference to the Knights of Cybertron which were alluded to in the most recent Transformers installment, Age of Exctinction.

Production of The Last Knight is set to begin June 6 in Detroit with other locations scheduled around the world. “Having one of the highest-profile film franchises created in Michigan is a major economic boost and a testament to the talent of the state’s production community,” said Jenell Leonard, commissioner of the Michigan Film & Digital Media Office when production plans were first revealed. “The production and economic investment is now happening sooner rather than later, and obviously, the project is a certainty rather than merely a possibility.”

Transformers: The Last Knight Starting Production in Cuba

Cuba?

With travel restrictions to Cuba having been eased, filmmakers are starting to take advantage of the situation to film in a location previously inaccessible to them. Fast & Furious 8 became the first major Hollywood movie to do so when it began filming in Cuba last month, but it will not be the last.

Like Fast 8, Transformers: The Last Knight is racking up frequent flyer miles for its cast and crew as it films in a variety of locations across the globe. In addition to filming in London and Detroit, director Michael Bay announced via his Instagram account that Transformers 5 would start filming in Cuba this week. Now Bay is back on Instagram, providing a status update.

“CUBA! Second American Movie shot in Cuba,” Bay captioned his first Instagram post from the country. “Amazing place!#transformers.” The image itself is of a lime green car parked on the street of an undisclosed location in Cuba. Presumably the car does not transform into a giant robot warrior, but one can never be too sure which machines will be secret Cybertronians in the Transformers universe.

Cuba is a open market now. The transfomation that's going to happen there is kinda ironic lol

I've been told to get there ASAP if I wanna enjoy it. It's only a few years away from being turned into just another tourist wasteland

Agreed. I got to a work trip to Cuba back in 1997 (we traveled on a religious / humanitarian exemption) and it was amazing.

All the cars (even the non-U.S.) ones dated from before the embargo. So you'd see 1950s-60s Chevys (like, right out of the movie Grease) everywhere, and they were still running.

We traveled to the work site every day in a 40 year-old Mercedes truck.

Amazing educational system too. I would trust any doctor or dentist trained in Cuba because they learned their craft without the aid of state-of-the art equipment.

SPOILERS: Major New Character And Story Details For TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT

JoBlo.com has the scoop on Transformers: The Last Knight, and...well, it sounds like the other four instalments in the franchise for the most part! This time though, the story will apparently revolve around Optimus Prime finding Cybertron and discovering he was responsible for his home now being a dead planet. To bring it back to life, he's going to need yet another mysterious artefact, and it reportedly has something to do with Merlin. That's right, the Merlin who was King Arthur's magician!

The site adds that,"the power of magic was given to Merlin by a Transformer and somehow the artifact ties into this," and they point out that while they're unsure of what the artefact could be, there is a sword in the movie's logo, so chances are it has something to do with Excalibur. As Maguffins go, this sounds interesting, thought Michael Bay getting his hands on British mythology is worrying.

ONCE UPON A TIME's Liam Garrigan Will Play King Arthur In TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT

King_Arthur.jpg

It was reported some time ago that King Arthur and Merlin are expected to factor into Transformers: The Last Knight, and the former has now been cast in the upcoming fifth instalment of Michael Bay's divisive franchise. However, the director doesn't deserve any points for originality as Mashable reports that Liam Garrigan has actually been cast in the role he's already played in Once Upon a Time!

On the plus side, we at least know that he's qualified to play the iconic British legend. Garrigan's other small screen credits include the likes of 24: Live Another Day and Strike Back while he also had a leading role in The Legends of Hercules. This is an interesting bit of casting as it now confirms that we'll be spending some time in the past in The Last Knight...unless Bay brings Arthur to the present that is!

According to Gizmodo, Letvision a company out of Ankara, Turkey unveiled a transforming robot based on a BMW 3 Series coupe. Yes, it actually drives!

Letros shows off his fully robotic form with flashing lights, a turning head, and some straight flexing. This is the first transforming car built using a BMW base.

The company is promising to release more models shortly with character names including Bizmut (clearly an homage to Optimus Prime), Argon, Wolfram, and Tantal.

Michael Bay is getting into a little trouble for using Winston Churchill's wartime home as a Nazi headquarters base or something...

Bay's response was that Churchill is a hero in the movie... wait for the story to come out and see.

So... I guess we are going back in time with the next Transformers.
