Marvel HIP HOP Variant Quest

Yeah, yeah, yeah, oh look another Variant chaser.

Well.....I happen to be a product of the 80's/90's, when Hip Hop was actually good. lol

I really dig these covers so I am now on a quest to catch them all. I was doing really well until I had missed the 2 1:100's (Deadpool #2, and All New Inhumans #5). Once I had secured a few copies of those, I resumed the quest. These covers are really tough to get in high grade due to the black ink, one of which is Daredevil #1. I haven;t seen a clean enough copy to buy as of yet.

I am currently at 63/??? (I just counted, but I have a few on order too).

I may not be alone, so if you have some favorites from the Marvel Hip Hop run, please share. If you hear of a new one coming, share it too! If you wanna see one of the ones I have listed in my current collection, I will share!

Sorry I don't, but I am sure a bit of strong internet searches might help you. I use an app to manage my collection, and have only bought doubles of certain books on accident a few times.

There are over 100 different ones for sure.

I wish there was a list as I would be more interested in some titles if I had interest in the original recording and was aware of the cover art homages.

Please consider posting your favorites if you have scans available as I would love to see some.

I have the Wolverine, Invincible Iron-Man and Black Panther one. I wanted the Spider-Man (Miles) but missed out and ended up with just a regular cover to read. May get variant some day if I see it for cover somewhere, but probably won't.

The NAS homage made sure that one wasn't going to happen. Black Panther is one I thought I could nab later for cheap, nope!!! $20 NM+ book right now.

I have 10 or so, I am amazed that there are 63 or more!

Do you know of any links where they have the albums homaged by the covers listed?

AWESOME! I forgot about those articles, I know I read them!

There are some other Hip Hop variants, but our topic here is focused on the Marvel ones, so let me filter out the others, here are just the Marvel Related article links:

I was waiting for this thread i started on these and the star wars action figures variants but these to really hard to follow if i had a easy checklist or quick reference i would probably pick up the easy ones. Besides the 1:100 what covers seem to be the highest value? I noticed the black panther #1 seems to go for around 20

Is there any kind of list for ones coming out?

There are still a lot I'm surprised have not been made yet, specifically Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's E1999 Eternal cover...one of the best selling albums during the mid-90s.

I wasn't planning on even buying the new Civil War II series, but when I saw the hip hop variants for #1, I had to get those. Ultramagnetic MC's Critical Beatdown and Onyx's Bacdafucup are two of my favorite rap records.

Also, has anyone seen a 9.8 Daredevil #1 Hip Hop Variant? I want to see if the chips in the side of every copy I have seen are indeed production wide as they seem to be.

#blackcoversmatter and Hip Hop variants are BRUTAL when it comes to flaws. They show everything!

if you post a pic of any cover you like, i can tell you the name of the album it's a homage to.
