SILVER & BLACK Adds DOCTOR STRANGE And BLACK PANTHER Crew Members

Quote

Sheena Duggal, the visual effects supervisor who worked on 2016's Doctor Strange and Ruth E. Carter, the costume designer for the 2018's Black Panther are both working on the upcoming Silver & Black movie, which will be based on the titular characters Black Cat and Silver Sable.

In addition to Doctor Strange, Duggal already had an impressive list of credit under her name for she worked as the visual effects supervisor for Hunger Games, Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World. Carter on the other hand, has already brought the incredibly stylish and afrofuturistic aesthetic to life in the many costumes shown in the Black Panther trailers. It will be interesting to see how both these people will apply their expertise to the upcoming movie.

Silver & Black is set to release February 2019.

Sounds like a smart buildout of the production crew.

'Silver and Black' Working Title and Start Date Revealed

Silver and Black is one of Sony's Spider-Man universe spinoffs and features the Black Cat and Silver Sable as the co-leads. The film seems to have started moving forward in production with the working title Tri-Border, and is expected to begin shooting on March 5th according to That Hashtag Show. The production is set to run through mid-June.

Sony will film the movie in Atlanta, the same location they are using for their other Spider-Man spinoff Venom. Like Silver and Black, Venom will use characters not seen in Spider-Man: Homecoming, at least that we know of.

When the project was originally announced, there were plenty of fans who were a bit skeptical that the project would actually move forward. The Black Cat is well known to fans, but mostly because of her affiliation with Spider-Man, but Silver Sable doesn't have that same kind of clout. It's also not known if Spider-Man Tom Holland will be appearing in Silver and Black to provide a tether to that successful franchise, but it seems Sony is confident in the project.

Spider-Man Spinoff 'Silver & Black' Lands Big Name Writers

Quote

The movie featuring Spider-Man allies Black Cat and Silver Sable just received a new draft from Captain Marvel and Chaos Walking scribes Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Lindsey Beer, according to a new report from the Hollywood Reporter.

Director Gina Prince-Bythewood will polish up the draft before submitting it to Sony. She also wrote the previous draft.

One of Beer's latest projects, based on the young adult series of novels Chaos Walking, will debut next March, though she's also worked for in Paramount writers rooms for franchises like Transformers and Star Trek, as well as the upcoming Kong vs. Godzilla movie for Warner Bros.

Robertson-Dworet worked on Captain Marvel, which is currently in production for Marvel Studios, and the Alicia Vikander Tomb Raider reboot set to premiere later this year.

Previous writers who have worked on the Silver & Black -script include Thor: Ragnarok's Chris Yost and Westworld showrunner Lisa Joy.

Sounds like Sony is actually attracting some decent production side talent to this film. Maybe it will be a decent movie? That being said, the biggest issue for them will be getting the casting right for both characters. Both should play roles in the Spidey-verse movies going forward so hopefully they hit with both leads.

This forum needs positive and uplifting energy?  The forum should get outside every now and then, and go for a run.  (shrug)

Meanwhile, will the actresses playing the lead characters have huge breast implants to physically match those of the comic characters they're portraying, you know, for empowering women everywhere and giving them such awesome role models of body image?

Seems like Gal Gadot was able to break that mold, and it worked out just great. We'll see if Sony accepts that as an indicator of what is working with movie-goers.

Seems like their heads are in the right place - a STRONG ---script over a bunch of flashy costumes and large-breasted mismatches for such key characters.

This actually makes a good deal of sense, as only a couple weeks back, it was revealed that in-demand writers Lindsey Beer and Geneva Robertson-Dworet were set to work on another draft of the ---script. No way they’d want to rush to push this film out without getting a working ---script. In fact, director Gina Prince-Bythewood confirmed the delay of the film, and addressed the reason, and it all seems to fall in line.

I know. Crazy, right? Gotta focus on the silver lining for Silver & Black.

I wonder if they can cast her as Black Cat for this film? She could be the first actor/actress to star for both Marvel and DC.

FWIW, Anne Hathaway looked good to me as Catwoman in DKR without implants. All they need to do is cast an actress with an athletic/fit build that can actually act and all will be fine.

What about Ben Affleck or Ryan Reynolds?

Doug Jones?

Ok...that one's a stretch.  While the Silver Surfer certainly counts, I'm not sure "Thin Clown" in Batman Returns constitutes a starring role.  But the others all seem viable.
