I am astounded. I hope those numbers don't represent some sort of bizarre outlier. 100-300 dollars has been my experience as awareness of these comics increased.

It will be interesting to see what kind of price can be reach for mid grade copies. A real score is finding copies without rust on the staples, this is a very common defect on those comics, based on my experience only 1 or 2 copies out of 10 are rust free.

Little known fact: there are two versions of those comics, one with the price in french francs (for the France market) and one in belgian francs (for the Belgium market). Both have the same date, published by the same publisher, with the same comic content, but with different interior ads. The belgian version is a lot scarcer compared to the french version.

Considering how rare late 50s Archies seem to be (#100 has only 7 copies on the census, with the top universal at 5.0), I've been seeing copies go for criminally cheap.

Maybe the demand is so low that no one subs or lists them? Where's the Harry Lucey love?

Btw, I'm looking for 101 and 102, pm me!

Is there any info on this sale beyond the price. I'm just having a hard time believing this (and I really want to).

Although not a comic - I've always thought high grade Vampirella 1s are way under valued.  Iconic classic cover and there is only a hundred or so graded copies 9.0 or higher.  Prices look to be on the rise but when you can get a 8.0 for $600 that seem low considering the significance of the book.

I agree completely, but I think there's still a mental disconnect with a lot of collectors re: magazines. No matter how influential, how important, or how cool, a lot of collectors just don't seem to want to deal with them. There are definitely exceptions (as our own esteemed magazine forum will attest) and I feel like there has been some forward momentum on that front in recent years, but they still seem to lag behind their smaller, punier cousins.
