Warner Bros. is making sure Margot Robbie feels at home after her head-turning performance in David Ayer's Suicide Squad.

The actress will be signing a first-look deal with the studio, which makes sense since Suicide Squad has brought in just over $700 million so far at the box office. Robbie will be producing films through her production company, LuckyChap Entertainment. She's joined by partners Tom Ackerley, Josey McNamara, and Sophia Kerr (via THR).

One of her upcoming projects as part of the new deal will be a Suicide Squad spin-off film, which will not only star Robbie but will also include her as an Executive Producer. Even though she will star in the film, it won't be a solo project, as the film is rumored to include other villains and heroes from DC's vast stable of characters, including names like Batgirl and the Birds of Prey.

In addition to the Suicide Squad spin-off, LuckyChap Entertainment is also producing I, Tonya, a Tonya Harding biopic. Robbie will be starring as Harding. The team is also working on Bad Monkey's, based on the original book by Matt Ruff. Robbie will also star in the upcoming Queen of the Air, as well as the upcoming Vaughn Stein directed Terminal.

Ah, the Ryan Lochte of our generation.

Not that Ryan Lochte is a prince, but there's a huge difference between destruction of property then lying about it and conspiring to assault and possibly cripple a person.

Or it could have just been a comparison that they were both Olympic scandals.

***Don't read too much into my comment. Wasn't meant to be mind blowing.

Christina Hodson is writing Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn spin-off movie

If you go by her IMDb page, Christina Hodson is fairly new to Hollywood with just two movie scripts under her belt. But according to a new report from Deadline, Hodson wrote a fantastic -script for Bumblebee, the first Transformers spin-off from Paramount Pictures.

So what’s this have to do with Batman or DC Comics? Well according to Deadline, Hodson is writing a movie for Warner Bros. that’ll be set in the DC universe. No other information was given.

So what movie could it be? My guess is Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn movie. Back in May we learned that it was being written by a woman, but we didn’t have a name. Could that name be Christina Hodson?

Update: According to The Wrap, the movie Hodson is writing for Warner Bros. is in fact Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn spin-off movie.

This has a nugget that was not revealed in the post above:

Harley Quinn Birds of Prey Spinoff Movie Gets a Writer

has tapped Christina Hodson to be the screenwriter.

(shrug)

She's mentioned in the previous article.

Not that, the basis of the movie/team.

Ahhhh.

Robbie will star in and produce the Harley Quinn / Birds of Prey spinoff, which will supposedly feature a team of female DC (anti-)heroes and villains in a story that has yet to be determined. The concept certainly played well in Gotham City Sirens, a comic book series by industry icon Paul Dini (Batman: The Animated Series), which featured Harley Quinn teamed up with Catwoman and Poison Ivy. Meanwhile The Birds of Prey comics and TV series generally followed more heroic female characters, so a mashup of the two concepts into one movie could be very interesting if it plays with the whole concept and perception of "bad girls" vs. "good girls."

Since there has been talk of Anne Hathaway wanting to reprise her Catwoman role, I wonder if this opens the door to bring her back.

David Ayer, Margot Robbie Reteam for All-Female DC Villains Movie 'Gotham City Sirens' (Exclusive)

David Ayer is back in the business of DC comics villains.

The filmmaker, who directed Warner Bros.’ all-bad guy comic book movie Suicide Squad, is reuniting with that film’s star, Margot Robbie, for Gotham City Sirens, a feature project that will showcase the top female villains from the DC stable, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Ayer will direct and produce the project with Robbie reprising her role as Harley Quinn, the part-time girlfriend of the Joker who is currently DC's most popular female character. Robbie is also executive producing.

Geneva Robertson-Dworet, a top female writer in the action sphere who has also penned scripts for the Tomb Raider remake and Warners' own Sherlock Holmes 3, is writing the screenplay.

The heads of DC’s film arm, Geoff Johns and Jon Berg, will also be involved in producer roles.
