Tom Cruise Closes Deal For MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 6; Production Expected To Start Spring 2017

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Tom Cruise has officially closed his deal with Paramount Pictures to return as action spy extraordinaire Ethan Hunt in the highly anticipated sixth installment in his blockbuster Mission: Impossible franchise. He'll also once again produce.

Chris McQuarrie, who helmed the exhilarating Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, wrote the -script and will be back in the director's chair for Part 6.

Production has been pushed from January to Spring 2017. No word yet on the rest of Ethan Hunt's elite IMF team, but Rogue Nation breakout star Rebecca Ferguson has been heavily rumored to be involved in some capacity. As for Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Alec Baldwin, Paula Patton and/or Maggie Q, we'll just have to wait and see on their availability for Cruise's sixth impossible mission in the coming months.

Bring him back as Les Grossman.

That's not the title!!!

Would be funny if this time Ethan has to go undercover as Les Grossman and it turns out that it took place during Tropic Thunder and that really was Ethan the whole time!

:applause:

I actually like that suggestion. Though the first film and the last few have been extremely entertaining.

Mission Impossible 6 Gets A Release Date

July 27, 2018

This news will probably pack down Cruise's busy schedule, as he is still in the production stages of The Mummy reboot. When that film wraps, it looks like it's back to Mission Impossible for the actor.

The summer date is great for a tentpole blockbuster, but this one in particular comes with some heavy competition.

Warner Brothers, a rival studio of Paramount, has one of its more highly anticipated films already set to release on that date. James Wan's Aquaman, a vital part of the DC Extended Universe, has already been announced to release on that date. If neither studio chooses to move their film, it should be a big weekend for the box office.

While any new Mission: Impossible movie is cause for celebration, after the news of the intense Tom Cruise stunt yet to come in the latest installment, hype has been high for the project. As of this week, things are officially underway, and we can’t wait.

Saw the advance preview yesterday in a full theater. Better than part 5. Surprised they reshot the jumping off the plane stunt about 40 times. Tremendous helicopter stunts plus 2 femme fatales. Better background sound effects than I expected. Soundtrack not as good as Atomic Blonde. Recommended 8.5 out of 10.

Tom Cruise details insane 'Mission: Impossible' jump stunt at 25,000 feet, done 106 times.

Just got back from seeing this movie. No spoilers. Give this a solid 8 start to finish.

At just shy of two and a half hours, it moves at a good pace. Solid action set pieces,

stunning camera work, and a couple of plot twist, (see it in 3-D.)

Agreed.

Saw it last night -- Not my favorite of the series (that's still M:I III), but easily a close second.

If you're on the fence - go see it.

Written/directed by Chris McQuarrie, who doesn't write bad movies (i.e., The Usual Suspects, Way of the Gun, Jack Reacher, Edge of Tomorrow).
