Oh, stop it.

I sold them. What a pillock eh? Should've kept them, I know. Never mind.  Your thread now @nesqrick2. Don't let me down though. Keep posting. I'll keep liking. Deal?

Sooper!

Have you managed to find any books outside of the known ASM date range that I published at the start of the thread @nesqrick2 (copied below)?

It would be cool to see a book dated in the 'unproven' range, as this would indicate that it's corresponding ASM might exist.

Great, thanks @revat - I'm not sure how I missed this when you posted it. The issue number (329) is cover dated February 1996 so coincides with the ASM #408 I posted:

This supports my ASM number range research (extract from earlier in the thread):

I've run through the thread in full and looked at all the additional comics @nesqrick2 has posted and they all also line up with the ASM US indicia dates. His Avengers West Coast #64 lines up with the first ASM on my list - number 341 - both comics have November 1990 US indicias, albeit the ASM has a Feb AUS cover date and the Avengers West Coast 64 a Jan:

The Newsstand website shows both were US cover dated the same month:

So my research was either spot on, and these are the only dates / numbers produced, or there's another copy out there yet to be discovered (e.g. ASM 409 which is conspicuous by it's absence)

Keep looking guys :headbang:

Following on from the above post, here's a picture of The Avengers #325, Australian Price Variant, swiped from eBay:

5a13026c32955_av325aus.jpg.814187acedb0ffd8e32e2b0e5b6a4082.jpg

Like the West Coast Avengers #64 it also has a Jan AUS cover date. The Newsstand website however shows it as having an October US indicia / cover date:

Capture2.thumb.PNG.5b30feffaa720c748992478f5e937a21.PNG

Which makes you wonder if ASM 340 should exist as an AUS copy. The  confusion seems to be that the Avengers #325 is a 'Late October' book, whereas ASM 340 is a straight October. So you can sort of see how the Avengers snuck in. But who knows? Maybe an ASM #340 has just yet to be found.....

Now, if you understood any of that you're one step ahead of me!

All good fun :D

One last post from me. Here's how to spot your AUS comics when scrolling through eBay Australia.

Three copies here:

  • Australian
  • US Newsstand
  • US Direct

5a130c561f9b1_361aus.thumb.jpg.14754669ad6a789cea5b4a4713f78752.jpg  361ne.thumb.jpg.999c144c8ca72248f3a8cc1e51699aca.jpg  361de.jpg.f95a972e3488c49570ace6b240546072.jpg

When you're scrolling down the eBay listings, the directs are easy to spot as they have picture UPC boxes. So you need to look for barcode copies. However, both the Australian and US newsstand copies have barcodes, so how can you spot the Australian without having to look at every listing?

One easy time saver is to look at the price box - the US Newsstand copy will have the 'cc' mark (Curtis Distribution) under the date. The AUS copy won't:

5a130c5a6cfb9_361ne(2).jpg.1119dd8771c2958c6f2a252f6c2aaa5c.jpg5a130c52b5c57_361aus(3).jpg.f2c8b0f9b3cba6eafa00ce979c3e45bd.jpg

So if you train your eye right, you can whizz down the listings just looking for barcode copies without the 'cc' (which will look like a small dot in the small images of the listings page) and you'll be sure it's an AUS if you see one.

It worked for me! :headbang:
