Up to 930 confirmed copies now:

This copy of Ghost Rider #40 is quite cool:

40a.thumb.jpg.dd5411b5b1f9cf6eb46f54b0b8a164f5.jpg

40c.thumb.jpg.af9d096a87c0c0136dbafe95d13bb725.jpg

Ghost Rider is a funny title - I've found no issues between the eligible number range of 6-22, 23-44 I've found as single priced AUS copies (missing just #30), and then no copies from 70-75

gr2.PNG.8b2cee343b30f2e9897092eafbab06b8.PNG

It looks like 6-22 may have been missed. I expect #45 to surface, and maybe the 70-75 issues will too, as issues in this later range are really scarce.

Time, as ever, will tell.

Evening :)

We interrupt our usual proceedings with a brief non-price variant interlude, to show off this lovely drawing of the Hulk's feet:

949996138_hulkfeet.thumb.jpg.e27e42be97c67d508a6c5b1787bd9fb9.jpg

As I say, not a price variant, but a locally produced Australian reprint - probably printed by The King of Australia @AJD

701404538_hulkfeet2.thumb.jpg.214207b6882f84f9b6719e1b6325e869.jpg

Have Hulk's feet ever looked nicer? Iron Man clearly doesn't think so:

1095254508_hulkfeet(2).thumb.jpg.86995fa1532aaf229332233ae867adb6.jpg

"Hulk likes Australian reprints which are locally produced, and not proper Australian Price Variants. Australian reprints which are locally produced, and not proper Australian Price Variants make Hulk laugh. Have funny covers. But if Australian reprints which are locally produced, and not proper Australian Price Variants, should suddenly start to mock Hulk, and portray Hulk's feet as ugly hairy monstrosities, then Hulk will SMASH!  Hulk.gif.abf43951f321a2f861228242bf6f3d6c.gif

There is one or two of the AUS Price copy you can add to the list.

Cheers Nes! :)

I love that X-Factor #59 - the first AUS issue if I've got my sums right and one I was missing until now. We have 40 of the potential 50 X-Factor's now. I'm missing #70, 84-87, 98, 119, 124, 127 and 128.

Issues #84 to 87 seem conspicuous and are few and far between on eBay.au even as US cents copies. I wonder if they were missed for some reason?

I've been tracking the Wolverine books for some time.  I don't have visual evidence, but do have anecdotal references of the respective Australian prices of the books below.  These are issues that are currently missing from your spreadsheet.

Wolverine (1988)
60  - $2.65 AUS
61  - $2.65 AUS
66  - $2.65 AUS
69  - $2.80 AUS
70  - $2.80 AUS
72  - $2.80 AUS
74  - $2.80 AUS
100 - $4.90 AUS

If you're looking for visual proof, definitely keep an eye out for these particular issues.  I'm sure there's even more Wolverine to be found (particularly all the issues in the 60s), but this is a great starting point and helped me fill out some of my own documentation.

Thanks Master Logan. I'll keep an eye out, yes. I don't count any book in any of my research threads until I have pictorial evidence. I'm gathering the AUS data as I enjoy it, and because no one else has done it (to my knowledge). I do expect the Wolverine's to turn up, along with a good many of the other missing books. I do think there will be some gaps for certain titles though. Time will tell. If you ever find any I'm missing, please post them here. They're vary scarce compared to pence / Canadian copies, so I expect it will take some time yet to find them all. Thanks for chipping in - the majority of people interested in these all seem not to be board members. So its nice to see you're interested. :)

I added a whopping 22 new issues to the list this morning (and a couple of image upgrades) courtesy of eBay Australia, Canada and the US bringing us up to 964 confirmed issues! Yay! :)

22.thumb.PNG.ce15de6f39ad9a9ac533c531c2a0ed4e.PNG

Should reach 1,000 soon :wishluck:

This listing cheesed me off a bit though, which I spotted while scrolling:

361.thumb.PNG.03ca19ba8517106f0d9bfddcc08f6c19.PNG

$435 flippin dollars!

Here's my old two, which I sold with the entire AUS ASM set years back:

I just found a new title - The Adventures of The X-Men / Adventures of Spider-Man newsstand flip book :)

3.thumb.jpg.1d0cdc06f64bfba6b1e7d97c1332fede.jpg 3a.thumb.jpg.4763fbcf2099d3f4c534282e018091bb.jpg

I've only found issue #3 dated June 1996 and priced AUS $3.20. There will be 8 in total if they all exist as AUS priced editions:

965.PNG.96064b5defcaf3c233727e00c0f8823e.PNG

It takes the known titles list up to 92, the confirmed issue count to 965 and the possible issue count to 1,676.

I remember this title from my old Spidey completist days - the flip books were, and still are, fairly little known. GCD doesn't even have a full set of covers of the US versions let alone any AUS copies - it just has issues 2, 3 and 6:

https://www.comics.org/series/52528/covers/

According to my old Spidey records issues 1-12 existed as flip books:

12.thumb.PNG.d3f3ee1b6101654105d0a9ffd54ec295.PNG

I can find pictures of the Untold Tales of Spider-Man flipbook set in my old files which ran to 20 issues but, alas, only this one picture for the Adventures title which doesn't show the bar code:

1051576975_AdventuresofSMFlip1-12.thumb.jpg.5be60cd202a569838de1490e3311e198.jpg

Annoying!

It'll be interesting to see if any more AUS copies surface as this was a very low printed title as I recall so AUS copies will be very scarce I would imagine.

Morning :)

I'm up to 974 confirmed Australian Price Variants this morning and just added this nice scan of Thor #428 - courtesy of eBay - to the files:

428.jpg.241550cb92b6e6c7faeb3bb668b4247b.jpg

We're doing quite well with Thor - I've found 44 of the theoretical 55 so far:

thor2.thumb.PNG.416dbc087c3321e59ebc91a2fa37fbe3.PNG

Looking at the chart, I see no copies so far for the post Jan 96 second phase of AUS books:

thor.PNG.d24d55f7c7f9c4cd9458505b32d955dc.PNG

So could it be that they weren't produced, as seems to be the case with many second phase eligible titles? If they were produced, they are Mighty Scarce (heh heh). If they weren't, issues 426 and 470 would 'complete' the set - assuming Thor isn't a 'double January 1991' issue title, in which case 424 may exist:

thor3.PNG.b9571e256785ca5514c83c7425c3859d.PNG

All good fun...

Up to 989 confirmed copies now - only 11 more needed for the round thousand (I was always good at maths) :)

I completed the Venom Lethal Protector set - images for 1-6 are now in the files:

We've broken through the 1,000 barrier, courtesy of a single eBay.au seller (someone snagged some bargains) :)

I added a few more Web of Spideys so we're not far off a full set now - 33 of 40 in the can (assuming I've got my sums right):

1004.PNG.47fdc2bcdb8355e6b5c17bac4b9a012d.PNG

Here's two of them:

And here are 3 more images from AUS collector Paul Nicholls - all are the current highest on the CGC census (and with the old 'Australian Edition' labels):

pn1.thumb.jpg.ad1e1bad71aaca649768245e36ce5136.jpg

pn2.thumb.jpg.f86f9fa2146ed3428cb29f1fcd0564ee.jpg

pn3.thumb.jpg.23800e6e75cfc46157eb4cdf472ae6b0.jpg

Aren't they nice :)

At some point I'm going to review the spreadsheet to see which titles are likely to have gaps by design, and then assess the potential maximum copies there could be. We have 1,004 confirmed of a possible 1,676 copies if my date / title assessments are correct, but I see many gaps that look 'permanent'. If you know what I mean.

All good fun...

Picked up this gem at Heroes. He had one copy last year and that was the first time I had even heard of the Aus Newsstands. I didn't buy last year, but was surprised when he now had two this year, so I relieved him of his extra copy.

Nice copy. All 4 of these should exist as AUS variants - I have two confirmed so far:

I added a new title yesterday - Elektra. Yay!

Elektra #1 is a November 1996 issue, so just scrapes in. This is what the US Newsstand copy looks like:

And here you can clearly see a newsstand barcode with a single price, which the ebay seller confirms reads "AUS $2.75":

$2.75 is the price of many of the final AUS issues, so it all fits.

We're up to 93 titles now and I have image confirmations of 1,016 comics.

The Elektra is on ebay now if someone wants to snag it (post me a decent scan if you do would you?):

Cheers :)
