How about a Dan DeCarlo thread?

This thread has been quiet for too long. A couple of years ago, I ran into a copy of Millie the Model 92. It is the second part of her “origin”. First part was in issue 91. Who would ever think she had an “origin”? Since I like origin stories, I had to find both. Thanks to Harley at WonderCon, my quest is now realized. Haven’t read them back to back yet, but am looking forward to it.

Not that this is Golden Age, but it's De Carlo work that some may not be familiar with. No showgirls, no models, no Riverdale, just De Carlo and Stan Lee making their mark in the prestigious newspaper strip business.

Willie Lumpkin Sunday strips from 1960:

There's a De Carlo babe in this one, briefly:

Hmm, "Stanley"...

A strip about a mailman?  Interesting!

Never heard of it before, but given the duo behind it, the strip has a lot of historical interest.

I don't usually buy comics from Etsy but recently I ran across a copy of Archie's Pals & Gals #23 in decent condition.  I have fairly high grade copies of both the US and Canadian price variants so I passed on it at first.  I finally decided to get it.  I had a bit of a surprise when I opened the package.  Someone had scribbled "Autograph" on the backing board and what looked like "Dan" below that.  First thing I did was open to the Josie story and was happy to find that Dan had autographed the book in 2000.

Here's the cover and Josie page 1.  No mention of Dan's autograph was made in the listing so this was definitely a pleasant surprise.

Pretty happy overall, was hoping for a 9.0 on the #4, but pretty much nailed the other two. All three are second highest census. I think there are only 3-5 copies of each on the census.

So I just got this amazing piece of Dan DeCarlo OA in and I can't stop looking at it xD just love it so much. Its Page 24 from Pep Comics #280 from 1973. My favorite part is it has all the main characters depicted: Archie, Betty Veronica and Jughead! This is my first real piece of vintage comic art.
