Friends don't let friends get shilled.

This is a shill-free zone to discuss modern comics. All opinions are welcome, but this is not a cheerleading area like so many of the modern comics threads.

You can discuss what's going up, what's going down, and what is just hype.

My personal goals for this thread is to create an archive of the books sites like cBSi try and push on the boards, and what the real sales data shows.

So, opening issues:

Lay down a proper metric for judging books heat, especially ones with limit data points.

I think three metrics are key:

sales at CGC 9.8

values of CGC 9.8 vs crappier 9.8s

values of raw listed as NM or better

and a fourth for older books.

values at VG

If a book is truly heating up, all of these metrics should show it in unison. If one is out of wack, the heat is speculative influenced. Obviously the more BS the heat, the great out of whack things will be.

how on earth is this masking the other company? what on earth is going on here

cBSi is a comic market speculation news site, and has nothing to do with Voldemort MODS. Another prime example of why anonymous moderation is so bad for the forums.

Moderate in public, explain your actions, and name yourselves, otherwise it just looks like you are fans of the comic speculation news site, and removing threads that might have a different opinion....

Yeah, that was a weak Mod action.

This is important to distinguish. Cover miswraps, yellowed page edges, bad corners. There are many 9.8s (modern) I've passed on because the one big flaw is that one soft or blunted corner that stuck out like a soar thumb on an otherwise almost perfect book.
