Modern 9.8's

So in general what is it that keeps a 9.8 from being a 10?

Corners are not as sharp, staples not as tight, and the lack of other very small flaws that are visable while holding a comic at a certain angle.

In the overstreet grading definitions it mentions 'centering' of the comic itself and staples in a 9.9 and 10.0, I would equate it to card grading in a way. It would have to have perfectly placed staples and the book would have to be printed and put together centered and even throughout?

The newly released 2016 Overstreet Grading Guide has some full page shots of 9.8, 9.9 and 10.0 covers. Definitely worth picking up if these sorts of questions interest you.

What page/section can I find those examples? Thus far, I'm just seeing lots of ads.
