WARNING: This first post will be long and (hopefully) very thorough.

 

As the upcoming general release of Dollface #1 draws nearer, the online excitement and related sales of "first appearance" issues are heating up. But where do we find Dollface's first appearance? Sellers on eBay and elsewhere are quoting their copy is a first appearance, but in fact it is not. A number of blog sites are reporting (and rehashing) the same incomplete information, misleading both buyers and sellers.

 

I am aware that co-creator Dan Mendoza cited in interviews that the "Halloween Comic Fest" event would feature an issue that would be the first appearance of Dollface. These interviews took place in July/August 2016, and well, plans changed. To promote the project, the team at Action Lab: Danger Zone published a black and white issue of Dollface #1 that was given to participants of the Diamond Retailers Summit in Baltimore from Aug 31 - Sept 2, 2016. This issue has no cover price and was not made available for sale to the general public.

 

Below, with citation, is a chronological list in order of the appearances of Dollface that will hopefully help collectors not get burned. If this list is incomplete, please provide as much detail as possible and cite your source with links.

Excellent information. I didn't know the LA con book came out before ZT vs Dollface. For a long time I thought ZT vs Dollface was going to be the 1st app and I think they marketed it that way for awhile.

 

Yes and some are dealing with returns on damaged copies as well.

 

What was sweet was depending on how much you contributed you also got a Zombie Tramp 1 - 4 set as well.

 

I just got an email on this today and they are asking for damaged books to be returned so they can destroy them so not to add to the print run of the Kickstarter books which are tiny to begin with.
