Was in Barnes and Nobles last night and picked this up. Had a few adds for the Frazetta Museum. If anyone ever has the chance I highly recommend going.

I've been tempted to pick up some back issues of this series just for the Frazetta covers.

Help!  I just bought some Heavy Metal magazines that were stored in Heavy Metal branded binders, but I'm having trouble getting them out.

These are stored by hanging the magazine on a peg by its centerfold.  The pegs slide around inside the bracket, but after pulling the first two magazines out, the pegs won't move far enough out of the way to get the other mags out.  Pictured is a binder with two pegs free, and the mag is hanging on the third peg.  I'm pulling the centerfold off by tugging on the book, and the outer cover is scraping against the empty pegs.  The binders are starting to tarnish and rust.  Would it offend anyone if I cut the pegs to free the books, and threw out the binders?

Hm, never seen those before - I wouldn't necessarily toss them, but I doubt anyone would re-use them either. Do what's best for the magazines, and of course, you. You own them! (thumbsu

These binders are actually rather cool, unfortunately they have the writing on the spine numbering them.

The top bracket thing at the top of the metal pegs flips up doesn't it? That allows the magazines to be free from the structure. If you are saying it doesn't work anymore because it is rusted then yes cut as needed.

What exactly are the "in-demand" issues of Heavy Metal?  I used to collect Heavy Metal back in the day late '70s to early '80s.  Overstreet has since removed them from the guide so it's been difficult to catch up on any of the keys in the series.  I assume aside from the first 12 issues, first appearances of characters like Druuna or references to the two movies are probably in demand, but I'm not sure what else.

Maybe some of the ranxerox issues? I think HM (or a booth only selling HM) was at nycc in 2017 and was selling back issues, asked about those and they were all sold out.

Wait.... I thought you just went to the center of the magazine (where the peg is) and pull the peg out from the middle of it and it flexes out of either end?

I'll give it a shot, but they feel like if I bend them, they're staying bent. I honestly set the binders aside, and have been reading from a loose stack that came with them.

and I thought the top thing flips up so you can remove the magazines?

The LCS got some heavy metal mags in, they were over by the $1 books. I flipped through the covers and didn't see frazetta. They looked in decent shape, but I didn't check prices and can't remember issue numbers...  :sorry:

This LCS prices by overstreet, if they are no longer located in overstreet, it's a good chance that they are only $1. I'll have to check that out (thumbsu
