Wow! Nice Strange Adventures you fellows have been posting!

I'm wondering where the Atomic Age ends? Does any DC comic that looks different from Silver because of the cover indicia fit the bill? Will I be subjected to hate mail and death threats if I post a few DC's with the CCA stamp?

???

I think it ends with the CCA, but I fudged and showed a CCA book too.  Just don't show any bronze or copper in this thread...heh, heh...

Yeah, we have a few high grade DC collectors here...but I'm not usually one of them...

Now I have the magic quadruple from the issues in the 50s...no one but a true DC Sci-fi collector will know what that means...

No, not the pink...just the great covers and really hard to find...well, maybe not really hard to find, but they can be difficult and expensive...

So I've decided that if a series starts well before the CCA years, it's fair to post any issues from later in the 1950's before they acquire all the accoutrements of the Silver Age look.

Here's one therefore cover dated early 1957:

file.php?id=17166

Fox and the Crow comics are among the most incredibly tough DC comics from the 1950's to find in decent grade.

Incidentally, Crawford Crow is invariably very unfair to Fauntleroy Fox.

Thanks for sharing!  These are my favorite covers in the 50’s as well - probably would also include #54 in the group.

I have never been real impressed with the cover of #54, but I know it is popular, scarce, and probably expensive.  As I got into the lower numbers for that title I decided to search out only my favorite covers.  It's a good thing I did, because I might be in the poor house if I tried to get all of them...lol  I think I am down to only 6 issues I want now...but I will buy any I don't have as long as they aren't more than $25, and are at least a 5.0...:D

As most of you know,  I'm a huge fan of the pre-code Strange Adventures run.  I rarely purchase slabbed books; however, earlier this year, I had an opportunity to pick up a very favorably priced SA #3 in CGC 8.0 ow-wh.  It was a gorgeous, ultra-fresh copy except for one significant blemish: a non color-breaking bend/crease across the bottom-left corner of the back cover.

Thanks to the awesome talent of our very own joeypost, I am now the proud caretaker of only the second copy of Strange Adventures between #1 (Aug-Sep 1950) and #148 (Jan 1963) to be certified as a CGC 9.8 (the other being the Edgar Church copy of SA #10).  For what it's worth, the book is every bit as gorgeous/perfect in hand as it appears in the scan.
