Is it a Miller indicia copy?

My # 1 and # 5 of Amazing Adventures are US versions.

Numbers 2, 3 and 4 are Millers.

2 and 3 have no stamp or sticker, so it looks like they went out to the shops with a cover price of 10 cents.

The 9d stamp on # 4 could have been applied by Miller, but possibly by the retailer. It looks a little crude.

So, are there any stamped 1, 2 and 3 Millers? Or did they sit in the racks inviting the public to hand over a dime?

For my Amazing Adventures Miller set (all 10c printed copies), #1 and 4 aren't stamped and my #2 & 3 each have a different price stamp - #2 is a 9d and bizarrely #3 a 6d. They're just two of the mysteries of the Miller Marvels - how many of the 10c priced copies have no UK price stamps at all and for those that do, the different types of stamps and prices extant. Very inconsistent, on Marvel, was Miller.

My 1 - 6 are all un-stamped cents copies. When I say unstamped #1 has been stamped to death by popular book store;

I’ll look at indica of 2-5 tomorrow if you’re saying they may be unstamped Miller’s.

Got distracted watching England lose the cricket. Anyway I’ve had a look and all are regular US cents with regular US indica. Untouched by Miller.

Are you pleased or disappointed Gary

(Whisper.....) I actually prefer cents. When I started buying comics it was because I loved reading them, I started collecting because I wanted to read them all, cents or pence didn’t matter but there was something more “exotic” about getting an unstamped cents copy.

There was. I did it myself, during my old Spidey collecting days - sold off pence stamped copies to get the pure cents ones to sit next to the pence printed ones.

Shoulda kept all three...

Where would be best place to post info about items of interest being auctioned soon?

Assuming you mean items not being sold here on these boards, then here Albert:

OK, so no printed pence, no stamp, no sticker residue, no scribbled biro price.....and yet the Miller indica. Nice. And the fact that other people have similar copies means it wasn't just a one off that missed the stamp while Ethel was staring out the window dreaming about Tony Curtis.

So.......do we know if there are other titles from this month that were distributed without a price?

Also, given the propensity of collectors now to describe anything they can from the Timely vaults as a 'Marvel prototype',  we should note this issue has the origin of Doctor Droom..

Also, while these gentlemen are saying 'nothing can be so huge'   'Torr can' if you look at the size of his hands and his head compared to the size of the blokes, Torr actually has surprisingly dainty feet.

It never caught on.

The Miller approach to their indicia Marvels was very random indeed. Even the 9d printed copies were all over the place - stamped, unstamped...:

Nothing uniform about Marvel Millers, happily.

Imagine trying to be a Miller completist. You'd basically have to round up every copy of every issue imported.

Morning Millers :)

Yesterday was a good comic day at Marwood Towers. I decided on a whim to review the February 1978 DC UKPVs in line with the 'on sale dates' of Mikes Comic Newsstand and, in doing so, identified a further book which might exist as a UKPV. I then immediately found it on my first search. That made me laugh. Marwood too. So much for being the font of all UKPV knowledge - bloody useless really aren't I really

Then the postman turned up with two parcels. Always good that, isn't it.

Pat brought me another splendid Charlie to add to the pot and then the big one - the final Marvel L Miller UK Distribution Variant - Two-Gun Kid #58 - tadaaaah!

thumbnail.thumb.jpg.6f55e6e5977614b3b765f7207909323c.jpg

Hooray for the TGK#58 Miller copy!

I now have confirmation of every book that my research has determined should exist with a Miller filler - here's the updated, final chart (full details over at The Pence Palace of Doom):

1239979695_v2.7Final27_09_20.thumb.PNG.6e978bfa05382ae2987d453b802e51f3.PNG

I own a copy of every single one now apart from Gunsmoke Western #64. He'll come, eventually:

Capture.thumb.PNG.59d52f0165c0c3feb92016154639a82a.PNG

That brings us to the conclusion of this thread. Four years ago no one knew these even existed. Remarkable really. Then @EwanUK posted one picture in one of my threads with a big fat question mark and off I went. Couldn't resist it. With full acknowledgment to Ewan (I wish he was still here - I'm sure he'd get a kick out of seeing where we've ended up), I'm quite chuffed to have been the one to flush these out and bring them to wider attention via the CGC boards (a nice reference in the latest Overstreet too in JM's market report).

So there you go then - the full set confirmed.

Lovely :)

hey, finally remembered my password ...

have i missed anything? :foryou:
