This one surprised me too.  Reading the graders notes they talk about 2 light creases and some spine ticks.

I suspect the 2 light creases are the obvious dents we can see to the right of Spidey's arms.  That alone should put it at 9.0 . If there are spine ticks, and I think I can see some on the BC photo, that would knock it down to 8.5 . So I think CGC is spot on here. I think we forget that an 8.5/9.0 can be a really nice book sometimes with minor flaws.

If everything else is okay, then no more then 9.0.

Taking it to the next level, if you get it light pressed at CCS, I predict a substantial increase.... 9.4 minimum with light press----easy!

Not with the color break located by the handle in the cabinet (outside edge of front cover). Not sure why its not in the notes, but that looks light a thumb crease to me. And one of the creases looks deep enough to break color.

It does look under graded.

You're right Joe, there are actually two CBC's; one on the right edge and another on the top.  They're more color breaking "scrunches" so those may cost more than a typical break.  I had figured a 9.0 even with the spine corners as tight as they are but with grading as tight as its been you just never know.

When you say, "with grading as tight as its been", it insinuates changes in grading over time.  All graders need to collectively act as one to maintain consistency over time.

Thats the idea but all grading firms have had loose/tight cycles throughout their lifetime.  Until the human element is removed completely, inconsistencies (while minute and acceptable) are unavoidable.

Well stated. ....and that is one reason why grading is subjective, as the human element cannot be removed.
