TEEN TITANS digital TV show (TBD)

TITANS Live-Action Series & YOUNG JUSTICE: OUTSIDERS Set To Debut On A New Digital Service From DC

Quote

Ever since TNT decided to pass on DC Entertainment's Titans pilot early last year, not much has been said about the studio's future plans for the Teen Titans and with the recent news of a Nightwing solo movie being in development, it wouldn't have been a stretch to assume that the Titans project was effectively dead. However, as fate would have it, that was anything but the case.

In an official press release, Warner Bros. has announced their very own DC-exclusive direct-to-consumer digital service, which will launch in 2018 with two original series: the live-action superhero drama series Titans and the long-awaited third season of Young Justice.

Grayson will lead the Titans team, which will consist of heroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe, including the now-confirmed Starfire and Raven. The rest of the roster remains a bit of a mystery, but based on the The New Teen Titans #1 cover provided with the press release, it seems likely that it will be rounded out with some combination of Beast Boy, Cyborg, Kid Flash, and/or Wonder Girl. Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, and Greg Berlanti will write the pilot and will also executive produce alongside Sarah Schechter.

Check out the first synopses below:

“Titans” follows a group of young soon-to-be Super Heroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe. In this action-packed series, Grayson emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes, including Starfire, Raven and many others. “Titans” is a dramatic, live-action adventure series that will explore and celebrate one of the most popular comic book teams ever.

DC’s Titans TV Series Begins Filming This Fall

Quote

After years stuck in development hell, DC’s Titans will finally start rolling cameras later this year. While Marvel is slowly pumping out more and more TV series, DC has been going strong for years with a number of live-action shows. The Arrowverse is currently four TV shows strong, with a number of other DC heroes scattered across different networks. Back in 2014, word broke that the popular Teen Titans were heading to TV in live-action, with Robin and his friends finally joining the television milieu. Then early last year, for better or worse, we learned that Titans isn’t happening at TNT, as was originally the plan.

My Entertainment World has a new posting for Titans stating that the show will begin production on September 25 of this year in Atlanta, GA. The news lines up with the reports that Johns has begun writing, meaning a number of scripts will likely be in the can by the time cameras start rolling on the show’s first episode. The series will also be the latest major production to hit Georgia, with many Marvel Studios films and shows like The Walking Dead also calling Atlanta “home.”

Given the fall start date, we can likely expect to see the Titans series launch at the beginning of 2018. While the September start means a Titans trailer won’t be ready for San Diego Comic-Con next month, we may yet see a Titans teaser, concept art, casting news and/or an official synopsis revealed during the event.

Teen Titans Live-Action Casting Breakdown Teases Nightwing, Beast Boy, And More

Quote

Thanks to That Hashtag Show, a character breakdown for Titans have been revealed. Fans of the animated Teen Titans series will be able to figure out who these blurbs refer to. The first description nods to Nightwing while Raven gets a rather dour summary next. Starfire and Beast Boy are the final two descriptions given.

Looking at the summaries, it seems like Titans has a specific era from which each of its character are drawn from. Nightwing appears to be sourced from Grayson 1990s Nightwing run where he worked for the Bludhaven police in an attempt to take down corruption. As for Raven, much of her description is sourced from creator Marv Wolfman’s runs as she tries to run from her demonic father Trigon.

When it comes to Starfire, the ethereal character looks to be sourced straight from her first origin story. And, for Beast Boy fans, the green shape-shifting superhero will come off as a petty thief before Titans can turn him into a bonafide hero.

Titans is being produced by Geoff Johns, Greg Berlanti, and Akiva Goldsman - the same team that brings the DC Universe on The CW. Goldsman has written the -script for Titans, and it's expected to premiere in 2018.

Teen Titans Filming Location Revealed

Quote

Earlier this week, casting information surfaced showing that we’ll be seeing characters like Nightwing, Beast Boy, Raven, and Starfire in the series. Now, we know that the series will begin filming in Toronto with a tentative September start date.

My Entertainment World updated their listing for Titans to begin filming in Toronto, Canada on September 25, 2017 — a move that contradicts earlier reports that the show would begin production in Atlanta on the same day.

With this Titans show slated to air on DC’s new streaming service, it’s unclear whether or not the show will be set in the same cinematic universe as The CW’s Arrowverse shows. Whether or not it’s part of a larger television universe, fans are still excited to see long-time fan favorites in live action.

DC's Titans Rumored To Nab 13 Episode Commitment

The fine folks over at TitansTV caught on after Deadline posted an interview with screenwriter and producer Akiva Goldsman.

There isn't a direct quote from Goldsman on the episode count, but Deadline matter-of-factly reports that the series, with a pilot co-written by Goldsman and DC chief Geoff Johns, has a 13-episode commitment from Warner Bros. Television, who will bring it directly to a planned DC digital app.

And it looks like they want to expand the universe already.

'Titans' Reportedly Looking To Add Hawk And Dove

Don’t expect the live-action Titans series to just focus on Nightwing and Starfire. If a new report is correct, then DC is also looking to bring Hawk and Dove into the series.

According to That Hashtag Show, the studio is eyeing a pair of actors to bring the DC heroes to life. Alan Ritchson and Rebecca Rittenhouse are the frontrunners to play the two characters. The website got ahold character descriptions for the characters, and you can read up on ‘Molly’ - or Dove - below:

“Recurring Female (25-30) [Open ethnicity] Graceful master fighting machine. She straddles the world of being a thrill-seeking and do-gooding vigilante, along with being her crime fighting partner’s emotional anchor and caregiver. She loves him, but fears what he’s become…”

Just waiting on Terra. Its not the Titans without her and Deathstroke.

Terra :luhv: man that kid was all sorts of messed up. Those two and Brother Blood. Man, if they wanted to get dark, those storylines would blow people's minds. I don't know if it will ever be as good as those first 40-something issues of Titans, but it's something to aspire to.

TITANS Live-Action TV Series Adds TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Actor Alan Ritchson As Hawk

153688.jpg

Quote

Deadline reports that Alan Ritchson (Smallville, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) has joined the cast of the upcoming live-action Titans TV series as Hank Hall, a.k.a. Hawk.

That Hashtag Show actually broke the news that Hawk would feature on the show last week, and mentioned that Ritchson was up for the role. They also reckon DC is interested in Rebecca Rittenhouse (The Mindy Project) for Dove, so that's definitely worth keeping an eye on.

This small-screen take on Hawk is described as "an aggressive, offensive bruiser", while Dove is "strategic, defensive and lithe." It'll be a recurring role with an option to become a regular later on, and producers are also said to be thinking about a potential Hawk and Dove spinoff.

TITANS Casts LUCIFER Actress Lindsey Gort As Detective Amy Rohrbach

214_0961_Candy.jpg

Quote

TV Line is reporting that Lindsey Gort has joined the cast of Titans in a recurring role as Detective Amy Rohrbach, who is Grayson's (Brenton Thwaites) new partner at the Blüdhaven police department. Further details weren't provided, but in the comics, Rohrbach does ultimately discover that Grayson and Nightwing are one and the same (and manages to keep his secret), so it'll be interesting to see whether the series will follow the same route.

She joins a cast headlined by Thwaites (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) and that will also feature Anna Diop (24: Legacy), Teagan Croft (The Osiris Child), Minka Kelly (Friday Night Lights), and Alan Ritchson (Smallville). Beast Boy is also expected to make his live-action debut, but it appears as though his casting has yet-to-be-finalized.

Anna Diop Reveals 'Titans' VFX Scans For Starfire

The Titans television show is inching closer to production, and one of its cast members just provided a pretty cool behind-the-scenes look.

Anna Diop recently shared a video of her visual effects scans for the DC Entertainment series, which will help bring her role of Koriand'r/Starfire to life.

If you're not familiar with these "light stages", they're used throughout motion capture technology, to get a 360-degree image of a performer to utilize in digital effects. Given Starfire's wide array of powers - particularly her use of flight - it certainly makes sense that this kind of technology would need to be used.

Earlier this week, DC Comics President and CCO Geoff Johns tweeted about meeting with Ryan Potter, who will be playing Garfield Logan/Beast Boy in the upcoming series. He remarked that he and Potter talked about "all things" related to the character, including green tigers, Halo... and Doom Patrol.
