I was just on the CL website earlier today to check out their GA offerings for tomorrow and the first thing I noticed was this copy of Ace Comics 150, especially since I love these last few HTF issues of Ace Comics with the Phantom covers since they hardly ever come to market:  :luhv:

Okay, probably would not have seen it but it's pretty hard to miss since the Ace books are right at the top of the first page when you open up the GA portion of their auction here.  Checked the pricing action history and it looks like this copy here was sitting pretty much at only $112 :takeit: until earlier today when some bids went in and took the price up to $432.  Interesting as this looks like the exact same price point at which a slightly lower graded copy sold for on Heritage just over a year ago.  hm

 

Too bad it's not an copy of Ace 151 because that one has only 2 slabbed copies to date and ended up selling for $900 in the Heritage Auction last year and also sports a brighter cover which I would prefer more, but will still be interesting to see where this second highest graded copy of Ace 150 finishes up at tomorrow evening. :popcorn:  :taptaptap:

Fun Fact for anyone reading this. Those women on the cover that you only see their heads are the goddesses that make up Mary marvel's magic word:

Selene for grace

Hippolyta for strength

Ariadne for skill 

Zephyrus for flight (who is actually male but portrayed in the comics a female)

Aurora for beauty

Minerva for wisdom

 

And, @lou_fine, that Phantom comic went for a nice little sum.

Technically this one doesn't qualify any more since it's the 10th copy, but it is the new highest graded copy!  Previous high was 8.5(three copies at that grade).

Looks like it went for pretty much what the 2020 going market rate was for these Phantom cover later Ace's or possibly even slightly lower.  (shrug)

Looks like Heritage sold a slightly lower graded copy at CGC 5.5 for this same $432 price point that this CL CGC 6.0 graded copy sold for in this go round here.  In the same Heritage sale from last March, it looks like they sold an Ace 148 in CGC 6.0 for $336, an Ace 149 also in CGC 6.0 for $432, and an Ace 151 in CGC 6.5 for $900.  (thumbsu
