Why has AF15 exploded in value?

I got my first AF15 4.5 (some MC) for $6K even in 2010.  That book would go for about triple that 6 years later.  I think that this is because the flipper market has probably also tripled since then.  People just want to make quick and easy money and the mantra 'comics never go down in value' caught fire.  Couple that with the killer comic book movies of the past decade and it's boomtown.  Is there a ceiling?  I tend to think so, how many collectors/investors can throw $20K at a 'nice' AF15?  Or $30K?  $50K?  Putting all your eggs in one basket may prove to be risky too if someone sells off their collectibles to get one.  Imagine what would happen if (when?) the economy tanks with Trump in office and the supply went up and there were no margins for flippers any longer.

Welcome to the Boards since this is your first post here.  :hi:

Although it takes decades of advanced collecting to find out this closely held secret, I will try my best to give you my opinion after years of deep analysis and study.

I believe this book features the first appearance of some character named Spider-Man.  :whatthe:  lol

That's what I was referring to.  Sorry SC22, it's not all about you....

I sold a CGC 6.0 on this chat forum in about 2007 or 2008 for $8K IIRC.

And it was a slow mover. lol

Fascination what a whole economic cycle will do to the value of comics.

An ounce of gold closed for $869 in 2008. Today it is around $1250 (+30%).

Confirms my bias that as a collector, don't sell anything. :preach:

An ounce of Gold did peak at almost $2000 a couple of years after it bottomed out.

Having said that, let me know if you ever want to sell!

It's interesting reading, but about tulips.

Not sure how it relates to AF 15, but it does explain the recent price increases in House of Secrets 92, the first appearance of Swamp Thing;  walking vegetation, basically.

AF15 is the most important work ever published second only to the Bible. It's value is priceless. Also, its champion will be along shortly to corroborate ...

Peter,

I am glad you put the Bible first, however, I am concerned about you listing AF15 as the second most important work ever published.  Let's be honest, without Action 1, it is hard to believe there ever would have been an AF15 (or any other man in tights).

This is NOT to say that AF15 should not hold a very high place on the "Most important published works list" (if such a list exists).  I am just not clear how you can put it in at #2, my friend.

That's the Amazing Spider-Man in a book called Amazing Fantasy.

Clearly there was always something very, very special about this character and this particular issue, right from the start, otherwise the description would've just been misleading hyperbole.

Becoming a key comic was simply inevitable.

AF 15 is a dud, I mean c'mon, why else would they cancel the series right after that issue?  (shrug)

No doubt, that book is awesome. It features one of the coolest mummy stories ever published. :headbang:

I'm kinda partial to The Bell Ringer story myself.
