Seems to me that Jaime's Kingsguard page will get a giant upgrade when he slays the Night King.  Also looking forward to his reunion with Bran.

Yah but it'll probably be evened out again when he kills his twin sister and Queen, meaning essentially 4 monarchs have died on his watch, 3 of them were directly related to him, and 2 of them he killed himself.  In addition, 3 Hand of the King's died on his watch (I know its not the same thing, but still not great), as well as Queen Margery (again not too big of a deal, but not great).  There may even be more deaths on his watch, if Rhaegar's young children (grandkids of Aegon) died AFTER Aegon, as they would be heirs to the throne who would certainly fall under the protectorate of the Kingsguard, and might have even been considered 'monarch' for a short time between the time of their grandfather's death and their's.  That's a lot of L's for a member of the Kingsguard, which doesn't even mention that he was having an affair with the King's wife, and fathered three of her children, oh and also freed a man convicted of killing the king.

2018 or possibly even 2019 for the final season.

On the upside it looks like 6 feature length episodes.

2019 is what a few articles have noted as they do not start filming until this October. So with final CGI, they didn't see it happening in 2018.

Game of Thrones Season 7 Finale is Show’s Most-Watched Episode Ever

Quote

According to HBO, Sunday’s massive season 7 finale of Game of Thrones was, unsurprisingly, the most-watched episode in the history of the show.

Per Entertainment Weekly, a total of 12.1 million viewers tuned into the initial airing of “The Dragon and the Wolf” at 9 PM EST on Sunday, with a total of 16 million viewing the episode overall when you add in streaming numbers and replay audience (up to this point). This is a marketed improvement upon the previous high, when 10.7 million people tuned into “Eastwatch” two weeks ago. It continues the season’s theme of topping itself, as “Eastwatch” also bested the high of the week before it, edging the 10.2 million of “The Spoils of War”.

Here's why Jon Snow's father looked so familiar in the 'Game of Thrones' finale

Though it's only a brief glimpse, fans were befuddled because the actor closely resembled Daenerys' brother Viserys. But the characters are actually played by two different actors.

Viserys was played by English actor Harry Lloyd.

Meanwhile, Rhaegar was played by Welsh actor Wilf Scolding.

To be fair, it makes sense that the two actors would look so similar. As with most of the Targaryen family, both Viserys and Rhaegar had silver-blond hair and lilac eyes.

So is Jon Snow and Danerys related?

We've had Jon Snow's parents confirmed clearly in this last episode (even though it was made pretty clear in prior episodes).

Jon Snow is the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryan (whom Rhaegar secretly married after his annulment from his first wife).

Rhaegar Targaryan is the (much much) older brother of Danerys Targaryan (I don't think the show has given us any reason to doubt the parentage of  Danerys or Rhaegar).

Both Jon and Dany were born near the end of Robert's Rebellion, so I'm not sure who is older (book enthusiasts will probably know), but  Danerys IS THE AUNT of Jon Snow.  Which makes the end of the finale....awkward....

Additionally, the monarchies in Westeros seem to give preference to male heirs vs female ones, so John being the son of the crown prince (Rhaegar) would likely give him a stronger claim to the throne than Dany, which would make for another (though far less awkward) conversation than the OTHER conversation that everyone is looking forward to.

I don't see John claiming the throne for himself as he pledged to Dany and is a man of his word, even though if you follow the line of succession he would be the rightful king.  He himself said many times he does not want to be the leader of men, but they keep electing him their leader.  Now saying that John won't make a claim for the throne does not mean that others won't push hard for him to be king.

It is only awkward in some US states..........in others it is not an issue.

Notice the uncanny resemblance to John Snow in this image. lol

And one that has been floating around for a few months now. Worth a read. Especially how he may have caused the Mad King situation to occur. But still, a fan theory.

Understanding the Bran/Night King Theory From GAME OF THRONES

bran-night-king.jpg

I've been mulling this hypothesis over, but two things about it don't make sense:

  • People are pointing out how the Night's King looks more like Bran now, but it was explicitly revealed last season that the Night's King is actor Richard Brake (who played the guy who killed Bruce's parents in "Batman Begins") pictured below.  Since we know the Night's King is that guy, whoever he is, isn't the idea that he looks more like Bran now direct evidence of people grasping at straws?  The Night's King looks like and IS that guy in physicality, not Bran.
  • One of the supporting points people are pointing out is that Bran was told "you will never walk again but you will fly."  We've thought up until now that meant Bran would warg into a dragon, but if he warged into the Night's King and got stuck there, hasn't he spent thousands of years walking around as the Night's King?

Book nerd here :shy::

Daenerys Stormborn was conceived around the last month of Robert's Rebellion, right before her mother and Viserys were evacuated to Dragonstone. Estimates put her birth somewhere around 7-8 months after the war.  She and Viserys were smuggled out of Westeros by Targaryen supporters while the Baratheons were still consolidating their power and getting ready to launch a siege on Dragonstone.

Ned Stark and his companions left for the Tower of Joy (in Dorne) after the Seige on Storm's End was lifted, which was preceded by the Sacking of King's Landing. Upon reaching Lyanna, he found her down with fever. She was on her death bed after giving birth and made Ned promise to look after Jon (now Aegon).

So Jon/Aegon is older, probably by a little less or more than a year.

As for the awkwardness, not really any for the Targaryens.  They have a long tradition of marrying within their own family to keep the dragon bloodlines pure.  The original king of the Seven Kingdoms, Aegon the Conqueror, was married to both of his sisters.  I don't think the TV producers have necessarily conveyed that very well on the show.  And actually, if Viserys hadn't  felt he needed Drogo and the Dothraki to reclaim his throne, he would have married Daenerys himself.

I don't know that this proves anything about Bran.  The Night's King was rumored to have been a Stark from the beginning.
