A comprehensive index of all Golden Age (up to 1945) war-related threads

Since I always wished to have all of the most interesting discussions of the Golden Age material as related to World War 2 events (and even those related to events from the interwar period and short after the war) I am creating this thread as an index, to be updated and improved as we go by, of the ones I saved.
Please feel free to suggest any thread and/or give suggestion on descriptions and how to organize them at best. :)

Very helpful list.  We'll have to keep bumping this thread so the list stays available!

Let's see those WWII Japanese Covers

I couldn't find two threads that I had bookmarked on the old boards... the previously mentioned war bonds thread titled War Stamps/Bonds/Loans - let's see 'em and What Hitler and Axis Cover Comics Do You Have?  Maybe they didn't migrate over with the new board.

Thanks much @walclark for remembering these (I used Google to dig them out).

Good work.  Yes, I often find Googledoes a better job than the board's internal search engine, even though I think the search engine works better on the new boards than it did on the old boards.

Updated! Thanks Gino!
I can’t wait to start threads with european books, but I have to scan them and no time right now! :(

I have a few fine examples of what is as close as possible to nazist propaganda comics (although Germany did not produce actual ones).
And then Italy, with its unhortodox material, very realistic and related to war events.
The spanish civil war gave birth to a few comics journals, nationalsocialist and communist, some rare.
Japan is more difficult to search, as their modern comics production started after the war.
And then all the other european countries I have yet to explore. It’s very exciting…

Nice work, Claudio! I think most older comic book folks (like me) are into WWII!

The younger generation crowd (like me) worth their salt would be insane not to find the historical significance and cool factor with these WWII books.

Great thread Claudio, though I suspect it will cost me money in the future! ;)

I think we should Sticky this thread!! The others would get bumped respectively but as we added to this at least we wouldn't lose any of the threads. Just my humble opinion. As long as we keep the links in Claudio's first post because if we have to start digging through this one to find others it kind of defeats the purpose.

That’s the idea. I was just waiting to add/create more and make it more complete to ask arch to do so. (thumbsu

Great idea!  So much to learn and talk about with this subject.

I was explaining to someone how Bill Everett created and drew Namor and then went off to war and came back to Namor again after.  He thought that was pretty wild.  When I told him Kirby did the same and he thought about how easily all the 1960's characters he created might have been lost to his death he was floored.

Is there a thread on comic creators who served in WW2?

Kirby, Simon, now you tell me of Everett and Earl Norem comes to mind.

I am still kicking myself very hard not having bought your incomplete Cap #46… :(

Great idea for a thread, Vaillant!

Please consider adding this thread to your index:

Military Comics by Actual Service Members

This features comic books about the service produced by men and women who actually served in the military. Most of the comics in the thread are from World War II. Some valuable history from the perspective of those who were there.

Thanks!

Added, thank you! I had it saved but for some reason I skipped it…
