ASM 238 Appreciation/Club Thread 8 8

Is it possible that some copies where made without tattooz in the inserts thus labeling them green like mine?

A couple of ASM 238's just blew the F up on the Bay tonight. I guess I'm just going to be stuck with my raw copies for a bit:

According to GPA, one sold for $713 last year, so what the.....?

Also, I tracked a 9.8 newsstand the other week that had near-perfect centering and wrap. It cleared $1000 and I tapped out at $900 but I was going after it because it was a newsstand. However, I can't explain this direct version....

Love it ... my 9.8 isn't going anywhere anytime soon...

The 9.8 isn't that crazy, given there were 2 $1k+ sales in Jan/Feb 2018, but the $1.8k paid for the 9.6 Canadian price variant is huge! GPA shows just 1 sale of a 9.6 C$ in each of 2016, 2017 and 2018, but it goes $275, $713 and $1,827. Yowzahs!

Just sent my beautiful Tattoo copy in. Hoping for the best. I'll be shocked if it comes back lower than a 9.6.

oompfh! That is....hmmm.  I would think if the first Hobgoblin is this popular, then certain books like Peter Parker , Spectacular Spider-Man #85 where he gets his augmented strength, the PPSSM # (cant recall the issue # at the moment) with the 1st Roderick Kingsley, or the Hobgoblin Lives mini would garner more attention.

Wow, looking at 90-day GPAs, 9.8 = $944 ($1175 last sale), and 9.6 = $336 ($316 last sale)... 2.8x (3.7x using last sales) is one of the bigger multiples I've seen for the premium from 9.6 -> 9.8 for reasonably liquid books!

Yeah, I always thought Hobby souping-up in PPSSM 85 was a pretty cool moment for the character. It's also a fun story and one of my favorite Copper Age covers!  Love that issue!

This is amazing, Mike!  I remember you telling me about your 9.0-9.8 set last year when you were looking for a 9.6.  Seeing this now in a picture is just awesome! Congrats on owning all of these beautiful NM range Newsstands

So I sent out a copy of 238 for my PC... one of my all time fav covers.   Was a 9.6 I picked up for $225... Got it signed by both Romitas and Stan.  Had it pressed and came back a 9.8!  So very happy right now.  Makes me feel better after I included my 9.8 in a trade with DST.

I found a pretty clean copy at my LCS. Possibly a 9.8. Gotta get it pressed first.
