Tim Vigil OriginalArt question

Hello,

I recently picked up a collection and the gentleman that sold me the collection had a original art book done by Tim Vigil. It had his autograph and is 11x17, but it is stapled together and does not feel like it's the usual paper for original art paper. It is Batman on the cover and is an adult version of it. It has Batman, Joker, Harley Quinn, and Catwoman.  I was hoping that maybe someone might know if this is might be really original art. Here are a couple of pictures of it.

There are some adults only pages.

These would be photocopies of Tim's Batman story.  There is no variation in the blacks, just look at the Joker page, so that tells me they aren't originals.  Maybe 15 years ago he started working on a Batman story in an attempt to show them what he could do, artwise, with the character.  A pitch, if you will.  I don't think he's ever been published by DC, and he only worked on one Marvel issue, I believe.

As he is notorious for holding onto his artwork, I doubt he's sold any of the Batman pages.  But he's made copies for friends/fans in the past, he gave me 11x17 photocopies of the OA to a Faust issue 4 or 5 years before it was printed as a comic.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

I agree these are not original art, only the autograph is real on this book.

I think a Vigil Batman run would be freaking fantastic.   I also don't think they'd give him the time of day just because of the other material he's self-published and not wanting to associate anything that could be labelled as pron with batman :sorry:

I know what you mean, but pron is so mainstream now (and streaming for free on a billion sites that any person any age can access...) it may not matter today or in the near future. What's the average age of editors at DC these days? Were any of them even alive when Faust started?!

I don't think the editor's biases are the right way to look at this - the editors wouldn't care, I'm sure.

Its more about the social justice warrior who finds his stuff demeaning/violent/fill in the blank with whatever they want to be offended by, and causes a media 'mess-storm.'    They just don't need the hassle.

Tim is a great guy personally but he has very high standards when it comes to his artwork. He does not like his work censored or edited and working for the BIG 2 would have required that especially in the 1990s.

Marvel had Milo Minara do an issue of X-men, so I don't think a "porn" association would be that big a deal.
