Any reason for January 1, 1965 vs say '64...'63 etc?

First thought is Fantastic Four #48.

That was the first one that popped into my mind as well.

I think a case could be made that Tec' 359 is a strong book as well.

Like to start a poll after seeing some candidates.

Agreed, I don't think any other characters introduced during this period equal Silver Surfer and Galactus

I agree. But it's funny. It was my knee-jerk answer, then I thought, "Waitaminit, there's got to be a bigger character than the Silver Surfer introduced in the entire back half of the Silver Age." But I can't come up with it.

i do think ST135 presents a good case as well for overall impact on the MU, and I like Tec359 for a DC choice if we split it by publishing universe. But I think Surfer/Galactus has had more impact for Marvel's creators over the years than Babs has at DC. Their female heroes push may well change that going forward, but FF48 is my answer today.

I just skimmed the OSPG top 50 Silver list and though I did not check every book to confirm, I don't think any of them is '65 or later.

This is what I think as well.
