Is it in bad taste to ask a comic art dealer what he believes a piece of art to be worth?

I've been fortunate in becoming friends with a solid bunch of collectors over the years. If I am curious about "value", whether it is scoping out a piece to make an offer or in looking at my own stuff, I'll reach out to a handful of them to bend their ear. While there may be some solid people who act as dealers, they may have a horse in the race, so to speak.
