No, not new. There has always been a cut off, every single year  

In the past I may have allowed a few latecomers to join, but it's always more effort to add people to the spreadsheet. Sometimes codes have to be changed and such and such. 

This year, I've been more strict in not allowing it. For this, I apologize, but I didn't want to add extra work to an already time-consuming commitment. 

Next year, I hope we can get the same amount of contestants, or more. We had 144 last year and it would be great to break 150! Just make sure you sign up during the 2-week sign up period. 2c
