I'm in the market for a low grade ASM 1 and have a few graded books I'd be willing to move to make it happen, but don't know where or how I'd go about doing that. 

I'd be moving a signed JIM 83, Bat 121, and higher grade ASM 20. Would I just post in the WTB section? Any inputs appreciated and apologies if this is located in the wrong section.

You can post trades in the WTB forum. The problem you will find is not many members read that section.  It's infamous for time wasters and low ballers (tire kickers).

There are some members that take it serious and you might make a deal but I would be surprised if even 25% of the boards members read the WTB forum.

 I say this because whenever I talk with members I rarely find one who reads this forum. They avoid it for the reasons I listed.

Thanks for the note -- any other ideas where I could potentially look for trades then? I'll post in the WTB section, but am hoping to reach a wider audience. I'm starting to think it may not be possible.

Why not set up a Sales Thread and in that mention you're interested in trading.  It's a long shot, but I agree with the sentiments above,  nobody goes in the WTB section.  I've found anyone who goes that route is more "looking to get a ridiculously cheap deal" than actually buy.

I agree with a lot of what you said but the problem is most posters don't include the price they are paying and most are looking for great deals.  The result  is most members avoid it.

It's really to bad because IMO if the WTB forum had rules similar to the sales forum it would result in most of the board members reading it. It would no longer be full of tire kickers.  This would result in more collectors finding the comics they need.

Well Darn, now I know why I'm not getting many replies for my WTB ad! 

The thing is, I'm advertising there and I'm personally not looking for a screaming deal. Perhaps I'm an exception.  I'd be satisfied buying my "wants" at the lowest buy it now on ebay MINUS the cost of the ebay fees.   Saving 10% would make me happy.

I did get an offer to buy stuff off of a website, but I saw better prices elsewhere so that was an easy "no".

Wish someone would compile a list of ebay sellers (by ebay name)  who were sellers-in-good-standing here. They'd probably sell a lot more stuff.  I can't ask the ebay folks if they haunt this place, and there isn't a "rosetta stone" here to figure that out.  Shame, really.  Might be a lot of money left on the table by our boardies.

My suggestion:

List all of the stuff you were considering for trade in a sales thread in the for sale section. Sell your books, collect some money, go out and buy the ASM 1 that you can afford with the money you generated.

I go to the WTB forum specifically looking for WTT.  I prefer trading over selling primarily so as to avoid paypal fees at the minimum.  Also, when I record a sale, that's when I take the loss or gain; whereas when I trade, I push the loss/gain down the road for revenue recording purposes.  Lastly, I find most want to buy at GPA lows, but sell at GPA highs so never seems to work out for me except when I trade at 90-day averages on both sides.  Post up a list in WTB.  I'll check it out.

If you haven't figured this out and I say this cause several times people have tried they just don't understand.

If you have books you want to trade and I have the book you want.  It's very unlikely I want the books you have for trade.  So if you expect me to take your books expect to leave room on the books.  If you are offering me 5 books for my 1 book...that is 5x more work to result in the same amount of $.  Who wants to do 5x more work for the same amount of $?  Of course this isn't always true...but it holds water most of the time.
