Name on bc 0

I have a number of high grade books, 8-9 range, with a name in pen written on the bc. Any concensus on how this effects the grade?

It will have an impact. All depends on how large the writing is and what type of pen or marker was used.

Just don't make the situation worse by messing with the book.  Don't try to remove it, don't clean it, and be very careful if you choose to press. I think it will have an impact on the grade, more so in higher grades. As Joey said, it depends on the size and ink used. It also depends on location and how neat it looks. The graders will react to a big, fugly signature staring you in the face. Hopefully, these are pretty clean.

I'll post an example when I get a chance. I'm definitely not planning on trying to remove them. I don't even know if that is possible. Just to be clear I'm talking about a ball point pen signature.
