n2wdw
ComicLink Auction and Lady In White Collection I haven't bid (or even browsed) ComicLink (or ComicConnect) for a few months, but yesterday I did as I had some spare time. I'm glad I did! I won these comics, that perfectly fit my Lady in White collection. This is the collection of comic covers where (1) the damsel in distress is wearing a flowing white gown; (2) the cover has a gothic feel to it; and (3) the overall CGC grade for the comics in the collection is 9.0. (As I've mentioned in the past, I might ease up on #3 as it's impossible to get many mags and GA comics in high grade for a reasonable price. Although, these 2 comics will help the average!) I also won this Lois and Clark photocover, signed by Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher. I collect TV and movie sigs, and you can't beat getting autographs via the CGC SS series. I might have the only copy... Now you've lit my collecting fires! I'm going to have to search for this book! One of my main focuses is Dave Stevens. Let me show you around my comic room where I've got the collection stored. I've got the top ranking registry (see my signature for a link). It's the only registry set I really care about, along with my Lady Mechanika set. I keep most of those CGC books stored here in my comic room. I store them flat in alpha order, with a couple favorite Stevens comics displayed upright. I display a few other CGC books here on this shelf: I also have a bunch of raw Stevens' comics, including signed books. I have some of his art displayed on the walls: A few years ago, I contacted the publisher of "Sirens of Cinema" to inquire about copies of v2 #13 (with the cover by Stevens). He had a box left in his inventory, and picked through it to find the best copies. Of those, only one was a 9.8. Right now it's the only 9.8 in the census, and I might have the only 9.8 copy in existence unless there's one in a collector's box somewhere. Something unique I have is this CBCS book. It's the only non-CGC graded book in my collection (as I've converted all the PGXs and CBCS comics to CGCs via their trade-in program). CBCS authenticates sigs, so Dave's signature here is authenticated. You can find some others on eBays, but high grade is hard to find. Tri-Color Brian
Here's a screenshot of my measly Stevens collection...I'm not really a Stevens completest, and I haven't sought out a Stevens cover since I picked up that Vampirella about 15 years ago (I found most of mine in the 80s and early 90s). I guess I'm happy with what I've got, but your stuff is amazing. Edited November 7, 2019 by Tri-ColorBrian 707comics

n2wdw
New Matt Baker Acquisition (?) I won this comic on eBay the other day, TAR 27. This is an upgrade from the 3.5 I already have. This comic is on my list of covers by Matt Baker. At 7.5, it's now the highest graded Baker cover in my collection. And I got it for a good price ($393). CGC doesn't list this as a Baker cover. But Amash does credit the cover to Baker. The GCD doesn't list the cover artist. For me, if CGC, or Amash, or the GCD (or frankly, if someone on the boards here) credits a cover to Baker, I add it to my list. But since I'm not certain Baker did the cover, I wouldn't pay a lot for it, but at $393 (with my max bid being $400), I'll take a chance on it, especially given the high 7.5 grade. The fact CGC doesn't list Baker as the cover artist probably helped me win the auction for a reasonable price. jimjum12
Baker was Art Director for St John at one point.... he would know, but unfortunately, he can't shed any light. That one also has that same ":feel" to it. Probably the same artist. GOD BLESS.... -jimbo(a friend of jesus)
Popular Post n2wdw
Major Grail Alert! Everyone - Thanks for your responses since my last post. I really appreciate it! Life has been busy lately. All my kids (4) are home for Thanksgiving! If you want a challenging life, try having 4 kids. Guess what? As they get older, their kid issues become adult issues. If you feel you have control over your life, try having kids, especially as they grow up. Now you know why I drink! I got a 20 lb turkey. My wife said it's too big but I like leftovers. A tradition in my family is to make cheesy mashed potatoes. This is an awesome recipe. https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/giada-de-laurentiis/baked-mashed-potatoes-with-pancetta-parmesan-cheese-and-breadcrumbs-recipe-1949314 Anyway, we move to comics. I won this on eBay a couple of weeks ago. MMC 12. This is a classic GGA cover. In my book, one of the best Dastardly GGA Bondage covers. I never thought I'd have such a nice copy. I bid on a few (more than a few) over the years but never won one. I went high this time (high for me) and was shocked to win it. There were complications as, at the time, I was in Japan. But I worked it out with the seller. This is now one of the greatest comics in my collection!
