I'm also a Lone Ranger geek.

56 different pinbacks (mostly from the late 30's to early 40's) and some miscellaneous stuff.

1948 Frontier Town with 71 structures and (4) 20" x 26" maps. There were 9 different Cheerios boxes with structures on the back and each map with extra structures could be had for 10 cents and a Cheerios box top. The buildings are put together with tabs and slots and I made these from a complete uncut/unpunched set. The radio show had multiple episodes based in the town.

1940 card set with wrapper and 8 x 10 premiums (still 2 cards and one premium short). You had to mail in 5 wrappers and 3 cents for one of the premium cards or 25 wrappers and 10 cents for all 5 cards.

A couple of paintings.

Wow, quite an impressive Lone Ranger collection! I have a good amount of radio premiums, pins and buttons from when I was collecting premiums pretty heavily. I have always loved the LR Town. Such a great item when shown like that. I might still have a couple of un-cut cereal boxes. A few I have pictures handy of. And this large 2" pinback from a newspaper. Only one I've seem (sorry, NFS).

Those are cool! Are a few of them old sunken ship recovered coins?

No, Russia wasn't doing much seafaring in the 17th Century.

They weren't doing much quality coin minting either. The basic coinage was wire kopeks--pieces of wire, pounded flat and struck with a die. For large coins (thalers), they countermarked other countries' coins with the image of the tsar and the date 1655.

i had an Schwinn "Apple Crate" when i was 10 yrs old , it took my step father two days to assemble it , it was awesome... unfortunately it was stolen within the year

I always wanted a bike like that but was too tall.  Brought back from England in 1966 though was a beautiful Raleigh 3 speed bike - purple and gold.  You changed the gears by rotating the right hand grip.  The local kids were transfixed with both the colour scheme and the gear changing method.  To quote Mr Trump - they'd never seen anything like it.

Those were in the days when you didn't need to lock your bike.  In fact, I didn't even have a lock for it.

Left it outside the local K Mart one afternoon and came out to find it...gone.  An extensive multi day search of several surrounding neighbourhoods and follow up on a few "leads" yielded nothing.  I never saw it again.

With that theft, I lost the last of my childhood innocence and it not doubt contributed to me being the cynical, bitter old man that I am today.

Thanks bicycle thief.

Great artifact! There can't be a ton of those around - Elvis on a 78. It's a perfect transition piece, as 78's represent more the big band and swing era and Elvis was a harbinger of the next great phase: rock n roll. I bet it sounds wonderful to hear, age-related wear and all.

A relatively new hobby that has become the national rage, MASK collecting...  :shy:

And of course, for more traditionally minded collectors there's always Texas style classics...

Some cool records on here; while I don't collect them I ran into a stack of Disneyland records at a nursing home sale a few years back and bought the whole stack for $10. In the stack was this classic which should bring back some great memories. For those who grew up watching the Sunday evening Disney show Patrick McGoohan as the Scarecrow was a very frightening figure!

Indeed - I don't know why I'm getting attracted to these early rock n' roll gems, but they do sound amazing - mostly smudge-type of marks, and on these shellac 78's almost impossible to "clean" off, but sound is surprisingly amazing !!

I had forgotten about my own record collection, although it's primarily 45's and LP's.  If you clean the record, you will lower the background noise, and of course it will sound better. A good cleaner is white Vinegar, applied with a toothbrush.

Great stuff. 78's like these are tough to find. I have my mom's collection of blues, hillbilly and early rock 'n roll 78's buried in my garage. A few real good ones. My mom was a real hipster in her day. If you collect them, you really need to pick up a copy of "Not for sale at any price". Must have book. Google it. You really need one of these to display your 78's in...
